I've seen lots of people asking for sketchup components, so I thought I would start this thread.
I've made some components based off of this picture.

Here is what me and MickRaider have done so far.

If you want to make any components then use this scale. A Block Large is 40' x 40' x 40'. You can color them if you want, but you don't have to. Post any that you have and I'll fix them to fit in with the rest. Once we have the lot, we can post it as one download for anyone to use.
I will continue to make components, and hopefully you will help.

I'm new to sketch up but would it be hard to make the beach side of the gulch in sketch up? I'm making headlong there.

Why can't you just use sketchup without components? Forge 2.0 is advanced enough to where you can just fill in the spaces with whatever items you want! Who needs components?

I tried to do that and its tough. Components allow you to have a sense of scale. If you create a random measurement in sketchup, you might not be able to replicate it in forge. With components, you know how big a walkway is, because if yuo make it a double wall, you refer to Halo 3's double and can imagine it better. All around it, just helps with scale.

I'm sure you only need the structural items though so like no need to make lights, dice, vehicles, etc. amirite?

we start with structural items because they are the most important, but we will also create the lights and stuff like weapons and objectives. Stuff like the flags and pistol we can use from the sandbox components, and also lights, but some other things like dice we will have to create. While many people rarely use it, its good to have those things if you need it, but our main focus is structures for now.

However Bart if you build the map in sketchup without components you can reuse the design better for portfolios or other games. The important part is the base design of the map. The best way to get used to doing that is too take a map that you already made and recreate the base design in sketchup. Make each important individual part and then make it a component and paste it wherever you need it and then whenever you want to go back and add something to similar parts you can edit one of them and it will change all of them (it's is what I did when I went back to add rails to the bridges on Helix). Here's my sketch for Helix:

However the components will help actually understand what resources you need so it will be useful eventually. But I highly suggest you start fully sketching your maps.
Hurry up and make some more components pl0x. Your doing a great job and i would love to design some stuff already. I would make some if i knew enough about Sketchup, i'm decent in it but i wouldnt expect myself to create a set of objects a few thousand people might use. I would end up messing up scale wise.

All my designs are made in sketchup the regular way, without components, then I just look at that and transfer that over into actual items once I'm actually in forge.

I thought I would give you a little update, so those are the objects created today. To fill you in, Mick and I are almost done with the basic components, which includes the blocks, walls, ramps, railed ramps, railed walkways, and rails. Once all of those are complete, we will release all of them for download in a basic component package. Then, we will try our hand at some of the more complicated structures, and the ones we can make, we will release in an extended component package.
Also, stop talking about why I am making the components. You may be able to make you maps easily without components, but I prefer to use them and Im sure other people do as well.

I don't mind you making the components at all I just highly suggest you try building maps without the components as well. It is definitely useful bro. I fully appreciate the effort though. It will help me layout the aesthetics of each of my new maps.

DOWNLOAD BASIC REACH COMPONENTS HERE (http://www.mickraider.com/sketchupmaps/reachbasicobjects.skp)
There you go. We'll start working on the more advance structures now. Also, these components may be exact or very far off from their in game counterparts. So, when Reach comes out, we'll fix all the problems.

Thank you very much Mick and Bart... you guys have done a great job thus far. I'm sure this will help those that use sketchup a lot.
