Recommended Party Size: 2-12 Players

OverviewFor those of you who have been around since Halo’s glory days, the name “Clue” will ring a bell. Based upon the classic board game (and the silly, silly movie), the game was one that relied heavily upon honor rules to work. In that game, there was only one person who was the murderer, and he was the only one who could shoot or kill. That is unless you caught him in the act of shooting or killing. In that case, you could fire back without remorse. Needless to say, the gametype was broken, and games often ended with baseless accusations as to who broke the rules (as most games with honor rules do).

Clueless (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4663), however, took the concept of Clue and, with a couple of modifications, turned it into a one-rule game: no assassinations. However, even that rule is supported by the scoring system, such that if you want to win, you won’t kill anyone by any method other than what is prescribed: sticky grenades. Each map that’s built for the gametype has three sticky grenades set to spawn randomly about the map. It takes about two rounds to catch on to a few of the grenade spawns on a map, but once you do, the game becomes pretty intense.

There are four rounds of no more than three minutes, and each round grants players a single life to live. It is your job to avoid being stuck, or even dying by the hand of another player until you can stick them with your grenades. However with the scoring mechanisms that are in place, it is generally not a good idea to start throwing grenades about willy-nilly. If you throw a grenade and it kills someone without sticking them, they gain a point while you lose one. This can be exploited in one particularly jerk move that you can do to someone, if you want to rob them of a point: sidestep their stick, but then stay on top of it.

As of yet, there are a total of two maps that work for Clueless (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4663): Sunshade (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=92222590), which is set in and around the pipe-side of Ghost Town, and Training Day (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=92397251), which uses teleport nodes of doom to keep you comfortably within the confines of Rat’s Nest’s interior. This gametype will not work on any map other than these (or any others that become listed in that thread after this feature thread is posted).

So if you haven’t already, download and play around of Clueless (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=92222539) on either Sunshade (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=92222590) or Training Day (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=92397251), and be sure to congratulate Boston on a well-deserved, long-awaited feature!

:D Thank you everyone who showed continued support for this (Prod especially). About any map can be made for Clueless as long as it is not huge. It makes excellent use out of Azn's randomization, and the games are actually really really fun! Again, thanks. It means a lot :)

And to be honest, it has been a while since I have played a game of this so even then I forget where all the grenades spawn!

I'm the dinosaur that looks like barney on the banner :D

I only played this today but between the 4 or 5 games we played, I really enjoyed myself. The way it is set up is brilliant, I also came up with a way to make people lose points >:D Overall i thought it was a very creative and fun game and is deserving of this feature.

I don't think you heard me.

XFOG. NOW.

Well how many does he need? I'd be willing to make one or two.

Requires a minimum of five before it can be nominated (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=107).

I wouldn't be opposed to making some maps. For a while I wanted to have a map pack come out, since the maps are SO easy to make. You can seriously make one in less than an hour, and it can play nicely. I'll start on them when I can if a lot of people feel it could be that popular! :)

Did I help you with this when you were first testing the very first version of the idea? Didn't it have snipers or something? and then I was all like, "Hey, dude, those guns are so square. You should ditch them, and make people throw things at each other." And you were all like, "That rings true in my ears bro, way to use your brain pan." or something? Or was it someone else with some other game?

Congratulations anyway. The game deserves it!

All i can say is FINALLY! I love this gametype and is one of , if not the best gametype in my opinion. I'm so glad this finally got featured.

I have a map for this that's yet to be posted which should help with the XFOG nomination if other are willing to contribute too.

Congratulations Boston!

Lol thanks! Yeah it started out as snipers and stickies, but the sniping got annoying and didn't work as well as I thought.

Haha I gotta give you the most credit. You have nominated this EVERY week since it was first made. Yes, lets pump out a ton of maps for this. When I can get back on, that is what I am gonna do. Again, thank you personally Prod for helping this get featured!

Yes it is really fun when you have the right party. With the wrong party it can be very annoying (because people still want to beat you down even if they know they lose points - its the only honor rule really).

It's a feature, not an Oscar :P

Lol sorry. Just wanted to thank everyone who voted for it!

I was joking Boston, congratulations anyways, played this with Costly when we were bored, he killed me two in a row, the second time he was deducted points but I still gained one but when I got 2 it was fine. Is that normal?

Yes. The scoring system is quite weird.

Scoring

Stick is worth 4 points
Death is worth 1 point
Killing in general is worth -1 point
Beatdown/Assasination is worth -2 points
Suiciding is worth -2 points

So when he killed you, he must have killed you but not stuck you. In the game of Clueless you gotta make sure you can get as close as possible, without making it obvious you have a sticky. A good 'trick' is to act like you are searching for grenades (or even say it through the headset you can't find any), and then when they turn their back on you, stick em! Make sure you hit them though because if you just kill them without sticking them, they gain a point and you lose a point!

I would say they probably take about the same amount of time as making an OVERBOARD! map. Really simple.

I just got around to playing this and I loved it. If I can get around to it I might even try making a map for this. I have to wonder though, why does this only have 18 dl's?

EDIT: Make sure you make this again in Reach Boston!
