Reach information.

No weather effects. There are filters that can be used to mimic certain lighting effects, though.
Shape" controls the shape of the object boundary. That's what we use for things like KOTH hills, respawn areas, kill zone areas, et cetera.”
The “shape” option on objects allows them to be turned into a hill for King of The Hill gametypes.
No “scaling” objects (making them larger, smaller, etc.).
You’ll have to switch from different gametypes in forge mode to edit the objects for that gametype, just as it was in Halo 3.
There is no “gravity” option for objects.
The Bomb, Flag, and Oddballs can be controlled where they spawn, but not how the spawn works. You can make objects “plant points,” however (i.e. planting the bomb on a warthog or other object).
Objects are grouped together so they share the same object limits. “So if you're setting up a map and can place, say, 50 wall pieces, it's actually 50 wall pieces of any type, not "10 doors, 10 corners, 10 single-width, 10 double-width, etc”
Player cap is still 8 players in forge mode.
Spartans still cannot swim on the water.
One-way shield doors are confirmed.
Placeable Armor Abilities confirmed. You can set it up so that you start the game with a certain armor ability, but can pick a different one up somewhere else in the game. When you “swap” them, it is just the same as swapping weapons. You get the new AA while the old one is left behind.
No intereactaive objects such as open-able doors or switches.
Objects can still be affected by gravity lifts, such as crates or dumpsters, and can still be used to hand-craft switches.
Items blend better to reduce Z-fighting (the flickering between two merged objects).
Forge hosting bugs have been fixed.
No object “despawning,” meaning you can’t make an object “disappear” after a certain amount of time.
Halo: Reach ships with a blank canvas version of Forge World.
You can know start a game with any weapon, such as a flamethrower or fuel rod gun.
No terrain editing tools.
Time actively spent in Forge gives you some credits. “And pre-emptive chill-out: we do distinguish between ‘active’, ‘idle’, and ‘rubber band on your controller.’”
All weapons will be available on all maps, as opposed to Halo 3 where certain weapons weren’t found on certain maps.
“Safe Zones limit players to certain parts of the map, as defined by the map author. If you leave the Safe Zone, you either die (hard Safe Zone) or are warned to return to the battle (soft Safe Zone.)”
You can change a vehicle’s color, as well as make them inherit the color of the team member that is driving them.

Information:
Firefight matchmaking support.
Firefight gametype customization.
Firefight gametypes that ship with Reach are: Firefight, Firefight Classic, Generator Defense, Gruntpocalypse, Rocketfight, Score Attack, Versus.
Generator Defense: Defend generators while fighting of AI.
Gruntpocalypse: All grunts, all the times.
Rocketfight: Unlimited rocket launchers with Firefight loadout and armor.
Versus: Play from Covenant perspective. Red team starts as Spartans, Blue team starts as Covenant.
All firefight maps are taken from campaign (missions, areas, etc.).
New armor ability: Hologram.
Sword has unique assassinations.
While playing as Covenant, you can see how many lives the Spartan team has.
New vehicle: The Forklift. It’s a forklift, it drives, it beeps while you back up.
Improved Player Carnage Report in Firefight.
New Blood Gulch map is called Hemorrhage. Bases are designed after Halo 1's Blood Gulch, terrain is an improved version of Halo 2’s Coagulation.
Turret on the side of the Falcon.
150 pieces built for Forge World map (“about”).
Coliseum is “roughly the same size” as the Crypt in Sandbox.
Grifball variant built inside the Coliseum.

Holding down on left stick allows you to go into a “slow camera” forging mode.
Special tools section: Edit Coordinates, Reset Orientation, Rotation Snap (Off, 5, 15, 20, 90 degrees shown. I think they go in increments of 5 degrees.), Delete All Of These.
Rotation snap: Change to what degree you want, such as 20 degrees, then every time you turn that object, it will turn in 20 degree increments.
Reset Orientation resets the object to its normal position.
Bridges and Platforms subsection: Bridge Small, Bridge Medium, Bridge Large, Bridge XLarge, Bridge Diagonal, Bridge Diag Small, Dish, Dish Open. (Note, this was what was shown, not all there is.)
Buildings subsection: Bunker Small, Bunker Small Covered, Bunker Box, Bunker Round, Bunker Ramp, Pyramid, Tower 2 Story, Tower 3 Story, Tower Tall, Room Double, Room Triple. (Note, this was what was shown, not all there is.)

Drop Shield Armor Ability: Drops a shield (similar to bubble shield, but with a blue look to it), but takes damage from enemy fire.

The Forerunner tower visible near the canyon shoots out a plasma-like beam, similar to the bases in Valhalla in Halo 3.

"The multiplayer games I got to try featured two vehicles I hadn't yet taken for a spin. The Falcon, first shown in the original Halo: Reach reveal trailer, is a must-use vehicle when added via Forge to Hemorrhage. The pilot can't actually shoot any guns, but other passengers can take up arms at two turrets that rain down death from above. In a one-on-one fight, the Banshee doesn't really stand much of a chance against the Falcon."
"The Covenant have another trick up their sleeves, however. It's called the Revenant and it behaves a bit like a Ghost crossed with a Wraith tank. This two-seater can boost around and is rather agile, but it fires the massive plasma balls that the Wraith tanks dish out. It's pretty devastating, but it offers little protection for the rider."

Those are the major landmarks, but it's basically all one contiguous space. There's beaches, a variety of good sized clifftops, lots of cliff faces (the Lockout remake is built in one of those in particular), so it's sort of misleading to say "there's five spaces".

Cannot place your own “callouts” for custom maps/games.

Objects originally on the map no longer permanently count against the absolute object item limit (like they did in Halo 3).
“Hate to burst any bubbles, but Forge is an MP only mode, and that means no AI of any flavor. Sorry!”
“Afraid not. It's just part of the decor, not actually physically simulated water.” (This means that the water coming out of the waterfalls do not “interact” with the placeable objects.)

“Our rule of thumb is that if your camera (head) goes under water, you're in too deep and we want you dead. That usually means water is either shallower than that, or deeper than that (like Relic, it doesn't slope away smoothly, it drops off sharply.)”
Gravity Lifts and Man Cannons still affect other objects when you are placing them.
“Unfortunately, the civilian vehicles didn't make the final Forge World palette. Including Forky. On the upside, every combat vehicle did (except the Saber. Forge World is big, but not "outer space" big.”
(Ferrex was being asked about the large Forerunner tower that is off in the distance from the canyon, and if it was possible to reach that area.) “I think that structure is actually out of bounds (it's right beside the edge of the geometry, which we vainly but determinedly try to hide from equally determined explorers. Gotta make it challenging, at least!)”

The small, outdoor pocket above The Coliseum is “Precisely as large as Sanctuary.”
(Ferrex is asked if there will be different themes for different maps.) “Generally speaking, yes. There's a lot of shared objects, too.”
“You can still set the number of Clips for placed weapons.”
“And yep, Teleporters can be given a spawn time, if you want to mark one as ‘Not Placed At Start’ and have it spawn in after that spawn time.”
“None (or almost none) of the big structural objects [are “moveable”]. Smaller sandbox objects, like Fusion Coils or Space Crates, can be moved around as long as they're not set to Fixed or Phased physics.”
“There is a non-deletable boundary + soft ceiling barrier, but it's pretty far out there. There's lots of room to build almost anything without bumping into them.”
“And the Monitor's boost has been greatly increased, which allows him to cover the map pretty rapidly. Shish verbally abused me every time I talked to him until we got that in.”

“Technical limitations. Shadow casting is relatively expensive and so we can only do it on so many objects at a time. We find the best use of them is for moving objects, so things like vehicles and flags take priority. If you're only looking structure pieces, though, they will shadow normally. There's also some sweet self shadowing based on a different bit of technical magic that is always applied to them, and really helps make the bunkers and interiors look sweet.”
“I believe only the Mongooses got the color change treatment. I gather it was sort of a whimsical thing that one of the artists did on his own time, and not how the rest of the vehicle art was set up. :(“

The vehicle man cannon is “quite a bit bigger” than the regular man cannon.
The boundaries of other maps are “quite a bit tighter” and compared to Forge World. (Ferrex also says that they are inaccessible for gameplay purposes.)
“Rotation Constraints basically lock the object's orientation (on all three axes) to a multiple of that number. So if you set 90 degrees, then the object will rotate in 90 degree steps. It's really pretty simple once you use it.”
“And under Coordinates, you can directly adjust the rotation on the pitch, yaw, and roll axes too. Makes some things easier, like building curved ramps.”
The Covenant Lookout Tower is not on the Forge World palette, “but it might be on one of the other maps.”
“Forge World vs. some of the other maps is really very much like the differences between, say, editing Sandtrap and editing Sandbox. Fewer (but still lots of) options on the normal maps, in exchange for a more unique and custom environment.”
There are no standalone UNSC turrets similar to the Shade (stationary Covenant turret).
Non-driveable vehicles (Pelican, Scarab, Longsword, etc.) cannot be spawned as “scenery” in Forge.
“Unfortunately, and despite a great last minute suggestion by Shish and Cam, the [map FX filters] remain map wide.”
(Ferrex is asked what the “camera” looking objects were above the spawns.) “Those are the viewpoint you see from while selecting loadouts. Sort of like the pre-game view of the map.”
“While you can make yourself invulnerable to the puny Spartans, we didn't set up the ‘Host Editor Only’ feature this time around. It was a non-trivial addition, and, well, H3 ended up doing alright without it (man that was embarrassing.)”
“The Oddballs, Flags, and their ilk now reset when they hit a kill volume. The MP team had strong sauce this time.”
“Not all vehicles will be available on all maps, but we try to get all of the relevant ones we can on as many maps as we can. Elephants are not creatable/placeable in Forge.
The “Grid Item” (large, blue grid) is just a “visual and physical aid.”
“You can have multiple Safe Zones, even if they're disjoint. As long as the player is inside one of them, he's Safe.” (This means that you can have one safe zone in one area, they have a teleporter that sends you to another safe zone all the way across the map, even if there are kill zones between those two areas.)
(Ferrex is asked how large the interior is, presumably talking about The Coliseum.) “I think it's around 3x as wide as a Grifball court, and 1x as long. It's pretty large, but there's large wall objects to block off parts.”
(Ferrex is asked how many lights can be placed in Forge World, and if you can fix their radius.) “Still limited to 2, and of fixed radius I'm afraid.” (Note that he probably means only two of each type of light, just like there were only 2 blue lights and 2 red lights placeable in Halo 3.)
When you exit a teleporter, you exit it in the same direction that you entered it. (If you walk backwards into a teleporter, you will exit it still walking backwards.)
Ammo is not placeable, you have to place the actual weapon down.
You can be an Elite in Forge.
There is only one customizable Custom Powerup (just like in Halo 3).
The Target Locator “is not limited to Invasion (it's in Firefight too), but it is limited to certain maps. It's not in Forge World, unfortunately.”
You can create your own kill zones.
You will not earn “credits” every time your map is downloaded or if it goes into Bungie Favorites.
You cannot change the trajectory (how far, how high, etc,) of a Man Cannon “but, there are a few different power levels available this time, so you should be able to adjust your trajectories more easily.”

New trilogy of Halo fiction set in the Forerunner universe, to be written by Greg Bear, a science fiction author.
Karen Traviss, author of two (in print, two more coming) Gears of War-themed novels, will also be working on a Halo trilogy, dealing with the storyline directly after Halo 3. They “will tie up some loose ends in Ghosts of Onyx” and “take the universe in a very, very bold and exciting new direction.”
Eric Raab: “We’re going to be re-issuing all of the original three Halo novels, starting with the Fall of Reach in August, with newly edited and new material in the back” that “supports the story with all sorts of cool stuff.” There’s “new information and hidden gems, and then we’re coming back out again with The Flood, a whole newly revised version of The Flood, with new covers, new material in the back, full of all sorts of fun stuff.” And “we’re coming out with another newly-edited version of First Strike, and in the midst of that, we’re [in the middle] of an art contest through Halo Waypoint for the Evolution short story collection” And “we’ll be coming out with two editions of that split into two and make them cheaper, and we’re adding a couple stories to that, so there’ll be new short stories for Evolution starting in November and December.” And “the first Forerunner novel will come in right around the holiday/end of the year.”
The first Forerunner novel (written by Greg Bear) will “be out by holiday this year.” You’ll see “Human and Forerunner contact in the first dozen pages, right of the bat.”
Greg Bear: “We have a story of human origins and why they seem to us to be so confused. We also have a story about the creation of the Halos- how they’re being handled.” There will be “some major surprises about the Halos.” And “I think you’re going to learn a lot more about both the Forerunners, their interactions with Humans, about the history of the time, a very tumultuous history.”
“Everything in both the Forerunner trilogy and the series of Karen Traviss novels will all have direct connections to the game.”
A new motion comic on Waypoint, titled “The Mona Lisa.” It’s “one of the other stories from Halo Evolutions.” (said by Kevin Grace.)
New “audio Eater eggs” included on the new special edition Reach console. There are audio files that play when you turn the Xbox on, and when you eject the disc tray. The eject audio is the sound of an overshield charge.
“Nothing new to announce about the (Halo) movie at this time. It’s something that we’d like to see, and we’ve certainly done a lot of prep work for it. We already have a bunch of costumes.” (said by Frank O’ Connor)
Frank O’Connor (When asked if the fans will see a return of Master Chief in the fiction novels): “Master Chief, at the end of Halo 3, is in cyro sleep, and Cortana has sent a rescue signal, and they are orbiting around a mysterious world. And we would to be the world’s biggest assholes to not follow through on a cliffhanger like that.” But “we certainly haven’t seen the last of the Master Chief. That story is very important to us.”
Frank O’Connor: “We’ve definitely created a lot of supplemental material for the re-launch of the books.”
Frank O’Connor: “You will see [Master Chief’s] face in the Fall of Reach comic book, as a child, but that’s it.”

"melee modifiers" hmmmm.... I'm assuming this is what makes juggernaut different in the way that you cannot assassinate him. Or maybe you can make a melee have a different damage modfier than when your shooting?
Also... In 4 of the 5 forge area pictures, the reticule has a tiny x in the center, while the other has a regular dot like normal... What is that about?

I'm working on it. I pretty much have all the information that I could take from the actual user questions and answers, but there's some new things that I didn't see before. And I'm picking through all the other text to get some stuff. I'll let you guys know when I update the thread.
Updated with the "Scenario" settings in Firefight (thanks to a possible slip-up during an interview), and all the available settings for Custom Skulls that effect the Wave Traits in Firefight.

I don't remember where it was, but somewhere in the Firefight settings, there's an option to turn assassinations off, so I'm guessing the same thing applies to custom games.

My take on armor abilities:
You should have as many as physically fucking possible. Even if only five are actually balanced and fair, use those five in MM and Campaign and MLG, and just let all the other ones be for Custom Games.
By limiting it, you're limiting the creativity. I cannot make my own Armor Abilities. Putting them in hurts no one, especially if they never appear in matchmaking and campaign, and would make the community happy.
I hope there are tons more.

It's a simple answer - Just get a screencap of normal scenery objects from one of the videos, put that into the 10,000 dollar budget, and compare it to H3 forge. They certainly scaled it strangely, but just from a glance it's easy to tell that you're able to place quite a few more objects than we were allowed in H3.

Right, but think about the flaws of budget glitching. Lag. Even if there were some sort of budget glitch I wouldn't doubt that it would have very similar effects to H3 budget glitch, causing immense lag when looking at the map as a whole. One thing that I personally wanted from Reach was to realize all my visions while staying within the limits of the budget.

Lets take a look into the budget. Hemerage, a pretty standard BTB map, has a budget left of over 5000. While there aren't many structures, there are a butload of vehicles that I think wouldn't be in most BTB maps. That means there is a lot of the budget left if you want to make a BTB map more complicated that Hemerage. The limitation would be that you would probably need to use one of the pre determined areas like the island or canyon. You couldn't make a huge BTB map in the sky most likely.
Cage is a map completely in the sky that is the size of Lockout/Guardian meaning that you can make a decent sized Team Slayer map while still having 3000 bucks left in your budget. That is plenty.
While some objects are expensive like the giant buildings, you wont be making an entire map out of just those structures. The smaller building blocks are quite inexpensive, and in addition, there are now huge walls you can use instead of 10 walls, making your budget more efficient. Will you have to watch you budget sometimes? Sure, but it most certainly allows for so much more than Halo 3 did.

The vehicles were $100, the "toys" (golf club, golf ball, soccer ball) were $100, but all of the structures that were seen were only $10. I think the structures are really cheap, because they require less work from the actual rendering and everything, while the accessory-type objects or objects that require more work to process are more expensive.
Building Blocks subsection (possibly full list, only what I managed to see): Block 1x1, Block 1x1 Flat, Block 1x1 Short, Block 1x1 Short, Block 1x1 Tall, Block 1x1 Tall and Thin, Block 1x2, Block 1x4, Block 2x1 Flat, Block 3x3, Block 3x2 Flat, Block 3x2 Short, Block 3x3 Tall, Block 3x4, Block 4x4, Block 4x4 Flat, Block 4x4 Short, Block 4x4 Tall, Block 5x3 Short, Block 5x5 Flat, (All blocks had a limit of 99).

I just thought of something. If you swith an armor ability that has an external effect (hologram, drop shield) out with another while it's effect is active, does it just disappear, or does it stay active until it times out?

My guess would be that since the Armor Ability is physically attached to your armor, if you swap it for another, you are detaching the original from its power source and it will cease to function.

So in the case of Hologram it will disappear since it requires an attachment to your physical armor? I can see that. However I think that the Drop Shield will still remain since after it is deployed it has no dependency to anything, it is on it's own health bar/timer. Whether or not it still heals and what not... who knows?

Does it seem like the elites are standing up straighter, or their heads stick up higher? On bungie.net there was always an argument about using elites because it was harder to get a headshot from behind. Maybe they tried to fix that?

I'd say your correct, ofcourse now there is the size difference, and the choice in the gametype options to make a team covies or not, so I'd guess they really were trying to fix the whole covie v spartan conflict.

Interesting bit I just heard (Not related to the above discussion):
In Firefight's versus mode, you gain a life for every player-controlled enemy Elite that you kill.
I always thought that the versus mode was going to be really hard because you're fighting against more than just the AI, but that addition seems like it will balance everything out.

I think Elites were always hunched over to make them seem the same size as the spartans. Now though they are making them different so they can stand the elites up how they should be. Tall and menacing.

The symbol you see is the symbol that represents Noble Team or Reach. I can't remember which one. But ya that's the symbol for it. They have the symbol all over the Reach project page if I remember.

I can't remember where I heard it from but I remember them talking about if you want to align two long bridge objects you don't have to work from the center of the bridge but you can just grab the one end of the bridge and get in close. It might have been the gamespot video.

Ya. Basic Editing is just like Forge. Not gametype specific. Unfortunately they've said there is no Advanced Editing gametype.
Also I just watched that vid and they don't say it but if you watch you'll see that they pick up objects and the cursor doesn't go to the center of the object. It stays where they grab.

That gave some good insight with the budget.
Forge world gives us 10,000 dollars, and small scenery objects like "Block 1x1" Were 10 dollars. Large pieces like towers, pyramids, etc. were 150 dollars, and I'm assuming that there are plenty of in-between objects. Along with that, "the cage" had over 3000 dollars left over, and that map by itself, a completely suspended 4v4 map with some aesthetic touches, seemed to fit comfortably within the budget.
So comparing that to H3 forge: Halo 3 has a 1500 dollar budget for sandbox, with 5 dollars per scenery piece. Forge world has 10 dollars per small scenery piece, with a 10,000 dollar budget.
H3: 1500/5= 300 scenery objects.
Reach: 10000/10= 1000 small scenery objects.
H3 budget glitched= apx 500 scenery objects
So basically, our Reach maps can be literally TWICE as big as a detailed, budget glitched H3 map, and still fit within the budget. Along with that, the large, detailed objects in forge world will allow for much more interesting architecture, and I'm presuming that using the large, expensive objects is as cost-efficient or more cost-efficient than making the same structure from small objects.

And there's still $8,000 left to go. And even if Urk doubles what he has right now, that will probably cost him about another $2,000, meaning he still has $6,000 more to spend. I doubt people will have trouble keeping their maps within budget.

Auntie Dot will probably be the/one of the A.I. in Reach's campaign. The symbol behind the voice is the symbol that represented Reach on Bungie.net, so that probably means that the voice comes from Reach. My guess is that they will show the symbol of the game that the voices come from behind the options.

They have some slight differences. The middle area on the General's head is open, while the Field Marshall's is closed. The design on their forearms are a little different. The chest piece and the top portions (what is shown) of their legs also vary slightly. They're not exactly the same, but they are very similar.

And it was probably the most awkward panel discussion I've seen so far, and I spent about an hour picking through it, so I felt inclined to post it here. They “will tie up some loose ends in Ghosts of Onyx” and “take the universe in a very, very bold and exciting new direction.”

While that is cool, there is a much more exciting (at least in my perspective lol) piece of information in that post. The kill volumes are $0 (as expected) and there are 32 of 'em!
I watched it before and it was the correct video. Now it is the campaign trailer. Maybe it is linked to the most recent video?
Psycho is probably right. I'll try and fix that, as well as get the thread up to date on all the new stuff that came out today.

I think the potential from Forge is unlimited. If Bungie is making these good of maps in a pretty short time, then imagine what we are going to be able to do. I personally love all the maps in the update, and I think the recreations are pretty accurate to the previous maps.

Another good thing to come out of recent playtesting is the advent of something Shishka calls, “Safe Havens.” I just call them good old fashioned fun. Those who were paying attention when we revealed some of our shiny new medals a few weeks back have already figured out that Infection is indeed making a comeback. With the addition of Safe Havens, it’s coming back with an adrenaline fueled twist and a side of deliciously decomposing flesh.

“’Safe Havens’ is a new mode for Infection that takes your classic Zombie-killin’ experience and gives it a King of the Hill-esque twist. In Havens, survivors are fragile and prone to being eaten. Survivors do little damage and can be killed in one hit. Unless, that is, they are standing in the Safe Haven. Once inside the Haven, Survivors turn immortal, and can kill zombies with one shot.
The catch? Once a Survivor steps into a Haven, a fifteen second timer is triggered and cannot be stopped. When the timer is up, the Haven moves to a random location, leaving everyone inside it mortal and vulnerable. As survivors, your goal is to move from Haven to Haven while avoiding the ever-increasing Zombie Horde, and scoring as many kills as you can along the way. It’s worth pointing out that the zombies aren’t your Romero-style knuckle draggers, either. Reach zombies are undead acrobats and all that tumbling has worked up a hunger for brains. Expect to be sprinting a lot.”

All those pictures gave me a much better grasp of the budget, size, and overall amount of objects available. Complex maps are now possible. Halo 3 maps were just far too simple compared to most games. Now we have the resources available and I can't wait to see what evolves with design under complex conditions. I am now adjusting designs accordingly :).
As for the map that uses all the budget I'm sure that is all the budget right there in the screenshot. Mainly because it utilizes a majority of the complex "Buildings" that cost a bunch as well as a bunch of aesthetic pieces to add to the complexity of the map. It looks gorgeous.

That's a pretty big map. You couldn't get a map that big in Halo 3, even with the budget glitch.

For my first idea I think that wont be enough... Hopefully it will work. Still it looks big and I see like 4 man cannon. it looks symmetrical but there is a man cannons in the back of each base. so like 5 man cannons and maybe are like $200 bucks a pop. $1000 down the drain.
Also effects and lights are expensive along with there are lots of extra pieces below the map. it may look small but the interior in forge world looks small but its supposed to be as big as the crypt.

Halo: Reach is officially complete, and rage-quitters will be punished - severely, in Bungie's latest (and final) Halo title.
On Bungie's blog yesterday the company announced that Halo: Reach had been released to Xbox Certification - the final step in a game's development process.
"Assuming things go well in certification, that means the only things standing between you all and Reach are the manufacturing process and shipping the discs to stores. It's been a long haul getting the game to this point but the team is incredibly proud of the game and can't wait to play with everyone on September 14th."

They also announced in the blog post that they will be traveling the world and demoing the game over the next few weeks - some of their destinations include places in Europe, Asia, and Oceania. No specifics yet on locations, but we're sure they'll be up soon.
In addition, Bungie's Brian Jarrard spoke to Xbox360Achievements the other day and said that rage-quitting will not be tolerated. Thank God. It can truly ruin an experience to have an opponent drop out just because you're killing them. Seriously? You can't handle losing? Grow up!
Jarrard told Xbox360Achievements, "I think one of the new things people will be excited about is how we're going to be able to penalize people who are habitually quitting out of games, which isn't exactly cheating, but it creates a really negative experience for everybody else in the game.
"We actually have new tools now to detect that and eventually, people who do this habitually will actually be penalized. We want to be able to remove them from the population so they can't make everyone else keep having a bad time."
Did we hear that correctly? Remove them from the population? We love that idea. If only they could all be put into a "league of rage-quitters" to play against each other. Would a game ever get finished? Probably not. Which would be sweet, sweet justice.

Yah - it is enough for a lockout type map. But when you try to make a more enclosed map - you are going to have to spend more of your budget on walls and other objects like that.

I'm pretty sure the structure on the far right out the Horizon picture is the same size as the BR tower or whichever it is on Blackout. In which case, that map is more than twice the size of Blackout.

I would say it is about one and a half lockouts, but that was not my point. I said lockout type maps. Meaning maps that have open walkways and where you fall to your death if you go over the edge.

Oh, I see what you meant then. Well, in that case, you will have to consider that those more enclosed maps probably won't be using so many of the more expensive pieces as their foundations, but rather inexpensive building blocks.
At least I think the bridges and walkways are more expensive...

Forerunner building materials are probably more expensive to produce than blocks made of sandstone... =P
Plus, I don't think all prices are inflated. I heard weapons are the same which they won't even put a dent in your map's budget

This only happens if you do it on a regular basis, and I don't think they'll do it if you have connection issues. It's targeted towards the people who quit on purpose that don't have these problems.

Other than Sam, I did take note of the environment. It's very guardian/backwash-esque, I'd love to see a remake of either, or just a multiplayer map with those aesthetics in general.

As far as I know, night vision is a feature in all Campaign missions, like how the flashlight is in Halo 3, not just a mode for the sniper scope. What I do not know is if when a player is scoped in if they will still see things in this night vision, and/or be able to do this with all weapons.

FTZ Interview: Forge World (http://www.oranjive.com/fireteamzulu/index.php?mode=news&sid=18)
Tyson Green has taken some time out of his busy day to answer some questions about Forge and Forge World. Read on for all the details! Editors note: These questions were asked in late July, so some news that answers a question may have already been available.
(FTZ) We'll start off the top here. Forge World will ship with a remake of Blood Gulch, and remakes of Ascension and Sanctuary will also be available. One map that people wanted to remake in Halo 3 was Chiron TL-34 from Halo 1; unfortunately, Halo 3 Forge did not allow you to place enough teleporters on the map. Do we have more teleporters in Reach Forge?
(TG) Afraid we fall well short. Chiron used 30 bi-directional teleporters (15 channels), and Forge World only allows 12 teleporter objects. It unfortunately wasn’t a map we had in mind when setting up the palettes.
(FTZ) To build on the last question - a notable change is that teleporters no longer force you to face towards their front exit like in 3, but keep your orientation like Halo 2. Does this mean telefragging is also back? If not: I make a teleporter with a huge radius. Can someone exit the porter and immediately back up and basically hide within the teleport radius (like how people hid inside of teleporters in Halo 1)? Can I make the radius big enough that I can make a delayed-spawn teleporter appear on the map and teleport everyone in the Coliseum into the ocean?
(TG) Telefragging is not back—you can block a teleporter with your body if you stand right on the receiver. But, it’s easy to defeat this by jumping—you’ll teleport in a few feet off the ground, above the blocking player. That usually results in a quick assassination, one way or the other.
And yes, you can do exactly what you describe with a delayed spawn teleporter, as long as the receiver is placed such that players are forced to move out of it (e.g., by falling.)
(FTZ) An issue with setting up King of the Hill in Halo 3 was that the object used to place them liked to move and tip over. This made it troublesome to make perfectly angled box-shaped hills. On the other hand, territories were marked with a four-legged object, which made them extremely easy to orient how you liked. Can we now accurately place / coordinate nudge objective areas like KotH hills like you can with Structure objects?
(TG) Yes, you can use Fixed/Phased physics with objective objects, and very precisely position them.
(FTZ) Speaking of objectives, it was mentioned in the Vidoc that a Warthog can be made into a hill for KotH. Can any vehicle become a hill, like a Scorpion or Falcon? Can you talk about how assigning the hog to be a hill works, ie do we set a special object on top of it or is it one of the options you have while editing it?

(TG) Any vehicle (and most any object in general) can be set up to be a hill or similar objective Area. To do so, you would simply give it the Game Type Label that corresponds to KOTH Hills (“koth_hill”, if my memory serves me… you select it from a spinner, though, so you won’t have to remember), and then set the shape and size of the area.
(FTZ) In Halo 3, inviting people to look at your Sandbox creations was always a little dangerous because sometimes the game would determine that they should be host and take it away from me. What would result when the host came back was a weird hybrid of the map edited up to that point and the map setup from when it was first loaded, which is why I always save before inviting people in. Is it a bit safer in Reach to invite people to a Forge session in progress?
(TG) Afraid it’s the same as it was in Halo 3. Our focus this time through was almost entirely on improving the act of editing, and that unfortunately didn’t leave us with enough time to improve on the open-party group editing experience.
(FTZ) Have any of the maximum amount of objective objects been increased from Halo 3? For example, you could place flag spawns for up to 8 different teams + Neutral, but only the Red and Blue flags would actually spawn. You could place up to 10 oddball spawn points but you could only ever tell the game to have 3 in play at once (strange, considering maps like Sandbox have 5 default ball spawns, so two of them go unused). Have any of the known objectives recieved feature upgrades, like a Halo 2 style arm radius for bomb points?
(TG) Well, you can place more objective objects than ever before (over a hundred), but it’s the game engines that control how many and what type of objects spawn at those objectives. In the case of Oddball, extra spawn locations are used to randomly respawn the Ball when it leaves play. And as for areas which are centered on those objects spawned by the game engine, their properties are also specified by the engine and not Forgeable. Sorry!
(FTZ) It was mentioned in the Comic Con demonstration (and shown) that spawn points are shown as colored spartans. We have the team colors for the teams and white holograms for FFA spawns. Does this mean we nolonger have Respawn Areas? Are there any new tools to control spawning?

(TG) Respawn Areas are still available to Forge users, and even more robust than in Halo 3.

I'm diggin those gameplay videos. Zealot looks incredible, and Pinnacle certainly stays true to its originator. I'm glad that there are finally gameplay videos from people who don't suck...

I really hope that the default slayer gametype for MM does not start you off with AR main and DMR secondary. Cuz if it does then I would have to hunt down my pistol. Then again if you have to hunt down a pistol then I can actually be that specialized in using the pistol compared to everyone else using the DMR.

I'm sure that the majority of the gametypes are going to be AR+Magnum, like in the beta. They just need to beef up the assualt rifle for it to be usable compared to the magnum. >.>

They already buffed the AR and the PR, they said so in the podcast right after the beta. They also slowed the Magnum fire rate by like 0.1. I believe they increased the DMR and Nerfle clip sizes as well which is awesome. They also increased the frag detonation time by a hair as well as lowered it's radius and damage slightly. The should balance out a lot of the standard weapon balance issues. And I believe they nerfed the ammo on the jesus beam and the plasma launcher.

Sorry for the off center rock part, the angles where different. It should look relatively similar to this because Juicy brings out the colors more and should turn that purple to dark blue.

Yeah, that would probably be terrible. But at the same time, it would be useful if you had 3 people who wanted to play campaign and felt like filling in that last slot (not like you'd need to, though...)
And they better be changing how the leaving system works in campaign, in that case. Because if it's still "someone leaves and you get disconnected" I don't think that method will get any attention at all.

yes, a spartan I, thats how he couldn't be infected by the flood-his supposed "Boren's Syndrome" was a cover story, he is actually immune because of the bio-augmentations, it also explains his bad-ass-ness
Don't know if any other spartans can be infected though-flood spartans in infection (if it exists) will need a lot of explaining

I present to you guys an amazing example of how aggressive the AI is... on HEROIC! Can't wait to see them on legendary. It is a clip of a guy fighting an Ultra Elite w/ a concussion rifle so you get a better feel of how the concussion rifle will work on players as well. It kinda pushes you all around. Quite interesting weapon that could be used for some fun gametypes:

The most recent video is a demonstration of how players can mix KOTH with a banshee to make a fun mini game of sniping the bird out of the sky lol. ;) And I love that you can finally do FULL immunity to everything now with immunity to assassinations. For loadout names we cannot fully customize them. There is a list of like 30+ premade names that we can choose from. As for when they appear, that is gametype based and can only be unlocked in tiers and I believe that is only in invasion. Basically you can't really choose when they appear bro.
Btw, there are some new G4 videos out that show a 3 way slayer match on the cage and somebody forging random shit. The forge video is nice for getting a feel of how forging feels like.

Okay now that is just awesome. I feel like such a loser because I am feeling like when I had my first kiss now. Reach is just going to be the best game over the course of the next few years. Doesn't matter how many CoD games can come out. It doesn't matter what people say. Reach IS going to be the best game on the 360 and in the gaming community for years to come. Hands down. Now if a game can replicate what Reach has done (Above average campaign at least, arguably the best multiplayer out there with the new Arena setup, the best firefight/horde/zombies etc out there, the BEST custom games period, and to top it off the BEST map making tool for a console there is) then maybe I will listen to an argument. The sheer amount of customization alone is the best I have ever seen in a video game! I am so proud to be a Halo fan right now!! :thumbup:

Even on easy the elites will give a just below average player an almost balanced fight. When me and my friend were playing campaign we left our warthog and lo and behold when we came back an elite had jumped on the gun and pinned us down. It sucked. Good thing we had grenades! Then we had to walk a long while till we found another vehicle.
But ya the AI are much smarter now. The elites are crazy to kill especially because they evade every like 5 seconds.
Also I think there are more then 30 loadout names. That seems like so few...
EDIT: Ok ya I just counted the Loadout names from the the written Firefight traits and there was 59. So about double of the guess. I was thinking that 30 was too low. They have a pretty wide variety of names to choose from so I think it will be fine.
