OverviewFor the better part of a year now, the minigame Ghost Run (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4941) has been up for feature, receiving consistent nominations, and making it to the top 5 vote on a number of those occasions. Be it by chance or just from its sheer tenacity, this week the game received the lion’s share of the community’s votes, and finally landed in its rightful place as a front page feature.

Ghost Run (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4941) by Aimless Ant is a minigame featuring both the map, QuickSand (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=93116729), and the gametype from which it gets its name, Ghost Run (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=93117513). Together, they provide an entertaining solution to a boring Saturday afternoon. The game supports up to four teams, recommending duos (though in the test session I played, we were able to make trios work). The VIP in the game is given a ghost and non-recharging overshield, while the other player(s) is sent high and above the field to rain down death by lasers on the other teams’ VIPs (forged pieces prevent them from just shooting one another from within the sky bubble). The VIP’s job, besides avoiding death by red glare, is to navigate the obstacle course and race the other VIPs to the goal-zones. Teams score points by either killing another team’s VIP (not as easy as it might seem), or by arriving at the goal points, and the first team to ten points (or the team with the most points after three minutes) wins the round.

Besides featuring some of the most fun I’ve had in gameplay for a while, Ghost Run (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4941) also features some remarkable forging in the obstacles that the VIPs have to navigate. There is one goal point, as you’ll see below, where they have to squeeze through a pair of Killballs that seem impossibly close together, which provides for some of the most invigorating ghost driving since the Vidmaster: Annual Achievement.

So if you see Aimless Ant around, thank him for making such an awesome map, and congratulate him on this well-deserved feature. And if you haven’t already, go ahead and download QuickSand (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=93116729) and the gametype, Ghost Run (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=93117513).

Bridge over troubled waters. Or balls. Killballs, that is…

So it begins.

This one’s fun. You’ve gotta bounce, then bounce again.

Up, up, and away!

To put this in perspective, this is the Killball shown in the last image.

FIRST!!!!! :-)

W00t! I knew this would be featured someday! What was this, Ghost Run's fifth time being nominated?

I just can't stress enough how good this map is. Ghost Run is one of the most fun minigames I've played. IMO, it kicks both Zeus and Rocket Race's fat asses. One of the best things about Ghost Run is that it's fun for both the VIP (the Ghost driver) and the other player (the Splaser and Rockets dude). Every structure on the map is very unique, my favorite being the big arch bridge. The map is also one of the most creative gametypes I've ever seen, nothing like this has ever been done before.

The only VERY slight problem I have with Ghost Run is that the Forging is a little off. Don't hate me for this, but the pyramid and also the ghost spawn need to be merged better. They look really, blocky, if you will. It doesn't really effect gameplay, but remember, aesthetics count too. NEEDZ MOAR INTERLOKZ!!!

With that minor complaint aside, Ghost Run is one of those gametypes where it's a challenge not to have fun. Congrats Aimless Ant, your map has definitely earned this feature and is LONG overdue.

It's about time! I've been voting for this game almos every time it has been up fir a feature, and it's finally made it. Very well deserved indeed. The game is just a barrel of monkeys and BostOn creAM p(i.e. raucous raunchy pub party of irate Irishmen).

I think this is a perfect example of what we say all the time. "If something deserves a feature then it will eventually be featured." This is a great gametype! Congrats on the feature!
