*Not sure if this is supposed to go in Reach section or Forge discussion, sorry*
This is assuming its going to be a step up from Halo 3, but not as elaborate as a terrain editor. This is written as sort of a story, just so its more entertaining. These are all ideas I hope Bungie implements.
You start up forge and you see the default map pre-made by Bungie. You press Start and then Clear All.
"This will clear all objects you've placed down. Continue?"
-Yes
The round ends and everything is cleared. You press up and turn into the Forge monitor, just like in Halo 3. You go to a corner and press X, and a menu appears. You scroll across the categories until you reach scenery. There are a plethora of options, but you choose the largest item, a 4x Double Block. A block appears in front of and appears to be a metallic color, like Forerunner. You place it in the corner, which slides in perfectly. In Halo 3, this would look like 4 double blocks stacked in a square.
You want to make a roof, so you pick a 2x Wall. It looks like a 2 walls on top of each other, but perfectly symmetrical from all sides. You press X again and many options are laid out before you. You select 'Auto Snap' and a grid of pictures appears on your screen. Each one shows the wall in a different position. you select the one where it is on its flat side, and the object instantly snaps to that position.
You notice that the wall somewhat goes through the actual walls of the map, like its being Ghost merged. You pull it out, and then push it back against the wall. It doesn't go back in, but it doesn't react to the wall at all either, you notice. In halo 3, if you pushed a wall against something else, your object would rotate a little. In Reach, it doesn't do that unless you change the settings.
You hover the wall above the block, and then press X. You set Gravity to 'Off' and then let go of the wall. It stays where it was, perfectly aligned.
Now, you want to make a column in the middle of your wall and block. Unfortunately, the distance from the wall and the block is longer than the length of the smallest column. You select the next largest column and lay it down next to the block. It lays suspended in the air where you left it. You look at the Block and press X. You select Transparent Object and press 'On.' The object becomes slightly invisible, and you go to the floating column from earlier.
You pick up the column and place it directly under the wall. You can see it slightly merge with the block. You turn off the transparent setting for the block and it instantly is made back into a complete object.
If you didn't read (probably a large majority of you), here's a list of all the ideas:
-Clear All
-Larger objects
-Auto Snap
-Option to change whether other objects effect the one your holding
-Gravity Option
-Transparent option
What do you think?
