Team REGEN King
Team Regeneration King: Earn your shields the hard way to gain time in the 'Bonus Zone'. v4 S11S
Created by Steve 11thselby

The main objective in this gametype is to score more points than your opponent in the allotted time frame. The games primary objective is to kill enemy players which rewards the gamer 1 point per kill. The secondary objective is to control the hill or make sure the enemy team don't control the hill. For every second in the hill you receive 2 points and lose shields at a 10% decay rate.

All players start with no shields and must earn their shields by either collecting custom power ups or by shooting enemies with shields as the game uses a 100% leech trait on all base player traits.

Players can earn upto a maximum of 4x overshields.

This so should have gotten in the top 5. I just don't think you guys advertised it enough though. No one else knew what it was.

No, aparently the moderators thought the gametype was boring.

You realize it isn't just the moderators that pick the top 5 don't you? For the record, it was a very close vote.

Thats fair enough... but i'm not overly sure a top 5 scenario worked between the coloured staff. Since the gametype competition, i've had numerous messages (sent on various sites / threads / messengers) saying it should have made the top 5 easily, i've had no people come back to say WHY it failed. I had one guy just say the gametype was boring, which is fair enough, thats one persons opinion and they gave feedback on it, but it's kinda annoying a lot of people outside the coloured community wanted the gametype in there.

It might just be worth considering a different approach for competitions like this, because the normal community is always larger than the coloured community, so really it would be fair to have 2 public votes. One to decide the "top 5" as a community (rather than just mods) then the second set is the community voting on the 5 that were scored highest initially.

It seems a lot of people haven't liked the way this competition went down to be honest, and i can see a lot of people haven't agreed with my opinions either (which i can't argue with, theyre my opinions, after all everyone is entitled to one) but it just annoyed me that i've had so many people say it should have been on there yet it wasnt, and i received no reason as to why it wasnt.

I am not sure what kind of explanation you are looking for as to why it failed. Your gametype did get votes, just not as many as the ones that made it into the top 5. Like I said, it was a close vote also.

That being said, just because a handful of people said you should have won it doesn't mean that those weren't the people that did vote for your gametype. I'm sure that all of the people whose gametypes didn't make the Top 5 were disappointed, and I'm sure there are people supporting each gametype that thought it should have "went down" differently. If any of the Top 5 had been different, we still would have run into the same thing. The same thing is going to happen with features. There's always going to be people who think it should be different, but that's obviously not the majority, otherwise it would have turned out differently. Not every vote can please everybody, there's always going to be somebody, or something. This time it is you.

If you seriously think the way we run a competition needs to be changed, then make a suggestion here (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5). Every XF Member is entitled to have their opinions heard and this way you can get the community's opinions also. I personally will never support 2 public votes for the simple fact that

It is more likely that a small subset of people have played a majority of the gametypes, so they would have a better view of the whole
Right now we have a Guaranteed and Consistent Set of Voters
It can't be as easily skewed by popularity or friends voting for friends
It becomes too cumbersome once we get more than a handful of submissions
It is unified process w/ Features so that it is easier to understand/follow
We don't want to stretch out the process any further in time length

I know what your saying and thats fair enough, but i'm saying that my gametype didnt make it through the coloured stage, so it never went to a public vote...
And people who have said regen should have gone through (at least to the public vote) the majority weren't coloured, so it doesnt appear like the system really worked for this gametype.
And just to add, all the people who did say this. I've never played the gametype with them, or have ever spoken to them. Except crypto, obviously.
But fair enough, you win some, you lose some.
I'm not that fussed about it, just wanted a bit of an explaination as to why it never got anywhere with so many random people saying it should have.

I understand why you are upset man, and I sort of am too. I voted for it in the initial vote. But just because it didn't make it doesn't mean that has to be the end of it. Try making a competition or hosting a Team Regen WoW. Get people to like it and popularize it and you may just win a feature.
