View Full Version : Ubisoft wants 'anticipation' for Assassin's Creed 2?

Was looking into Assassins Creed 2 because I have heard bits an peices about it but I wanted to know if they had any set dates yet. But I found this:

" In a recent piece by Forbes, Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America, explains that the publisher won't release Assassin's Creed 2 until there is "more anticipation for it." Meaning: Ubisoft is in no rush to push Altair out of a window until it's sure there's a sufficient amount of rabid consumers below to break his fall.

Forbes uses The Prince of Persia series as an example of what Ubisoft does not want to repeat, writing that PoP: Sands of Time sold "2 million copies in its first month," followed by sequels which didn't perform as well (sounds fishy to us). Is that why the company waited three years to make a new Prince of Persia? "

Edit: I hadnt relized Forbes is a site, and Ubisoft did tell that site this story.
But for a new question: Thoughts and opinions on a sequel to Assassin's Creed?

Pretty sure you will be Desmond in modern time. I'm looking forward to it, even though AC1 was a little repetitive at times, the storyline was epic and I'm looking forward to more.

I think you might start the game as Desmond right where it left off in the room but then he goes into the animus again like always does some stuff and figures out some hugely epic secret then comes out of the animus and gets taken away or killed by some modern day templars and then you play as a new character who learns more about this huge secret which Desmond started to learn but never figured it out completely. And then my other idea is that there might be some modern day running around the city stuff too where like you know how Desmond inherrited the eagle sense from the animus basically well maybe he learned how to be ninja in real life too!

I really can't wait for that game to come out but it hate how ubisoft wants to "build anticipation" Everyone wants it now so it should come out now. I could easily see it being a fight between desmond and the templars in modern time but i can also see him having to go back into the animus to find about the other fruits of eden. I agree zack:

It can't come out now thats the thing. Release dates are set around when the game is finished. It is probably still in fairly early stages of development right now. I don't think it is going to be coming out any earlier april or june though

WHo was desmond again? Was he the guy who is the main guy on the table thing in real life?

I'm not to sure about AC2... the first game was just too repetitive for me...

That is what most people say. I really liked it myself because of the wide gameplay because even though there was repetiveness it was still awesomesauce. Almost like a old times GTA, Lol. But if Assassin's Creed 2 comes out I'm going to like have orgasm everywhere ;P

I think they'll have a decent amount of people buying it, but the major turnoff for most people is the repetitive gameplay of the first one.

I think that once you start playing the whole idea of it being so repetitive almost goes away cause your like" I'm jumpin around on roofs and assasinating people over and over again. I r so awesome!" I think that when you're in a chase with some guards after you kill a group of them and you have to jum around on the roof tops and climbb towers and all that shit it just really gets you into the game like you are Altair

You just have to like the freeroam gameplay and the freerunning aspect of the game. I didnt feel it was repeitive.

How I see it, it's only not repetitive if you play it over a week or so; playing it hardcore and beating it in a day makes it boring.

This game lost me at the loading screen. I was expecting so much more then repetitive game play. Visually it was nice, and the soundtrack was phenomenal. It's just a shame it wasn't well rounded.

Either way I will have to finish it. I hate having unfinished games on my GamerCard. Who knows, maybe by then I'll have a change of heart and look forward to the sequel. Fingers crossed.
