The Official Forgery Mock-Tournament Discussion Thread [Archive]

As many of you have probably noticed, there has been a rather recent addition to the Forgery Forums (Tounament Mod) (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/competitions.php?). This modification has been discussed in Thomas's blog. (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/blog.php?b=18) Now, Thomas and I have been talking and we've decided that we're going to try this out, in a mock-tournament. Basically, what we're saying is we want to see if some people would like to test the addition. What you'll be doing as a tester is as follows:

Join the tournament.
You will play during a designated time until you lose or want to drop out.
Players will advance accordingly.
The winner shall NOT receive a prize.

Sound easy enough? We hope so. So, now that we've told you what to do, what game do you have to play? You will be playing Halo 3, a good classic. The entire tournament will be based on 1 v 1 matches, so don't expect big maps. We have not decided the maps either, so be ready for anything.

So, would anyone like to test?

I know you said undecided on the maps but what game types will be using? If slayer, will there be a timer? Also starting weapon?

Slayer is most likely gametype that will be played, and it will most likely not have a time limit. (Subject to change)

What is the difference between LMS and Single Elimination?

What is the difference between LMS and Single Elimination?
In order for us to progress people in LMS we have to enter they're point count, while Single Elimination is where the loser drops out. LMS can be used later on, if we want to get exact in determining place order, but it requires a lot more work on our end.

Double Elimination is when the losers from the Single elimination bracket get another chance to compete in a new bracket. The winner of the Winner and Losers bracket compete in the finals.

I have contacted Shellshock to fill in on the rest of the details. He's now an Event Moderator (aka event staff) so this is all under him.

Tomorrow, hopefully, we can expect to see: Time, Opponents, Gametypes, Maps, and whatever other details might be needed.

Every match in Round 1 will be played on DEFAULT Guardian, and DEFAULT Slayer. If we get any suspicious remarks about people changing the map, we will further investigate, and if found guilty, you will be disqualified. I had to make that clear. So, tomorrow, if we don't have 10 people, the tournament will start with as many as we have.

Who are we going to be playing against? Is there a time limit on the rounds? If so, you may want to ban hiding of any sort (like HLG style hiding, not camping, though that's cheap too).

I'm not sure how far you would get if you're hiding the whole game. In order for you to do that, you'd have to gain a lead, first, and hope that they don't have the same knowledge that you do.

But, overall, any spot/technique listed as illegal in this list (http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171166&highlight=Illegal+spots) is also illegal in this tournament.

Yes, the tournament starts at 9.

You will find out your opponent when we reach either 10 players or two hours before playtime. If the default slayer variant doesn't cover time, we will implement time and enforce it.

If there is anything that you find to be suspicious, unruly, or otherwise, you can report the game by Submitting the full film/film clip to Shellshock to review.

***After the game has been played, it's up to the winner of the round to submit the game by linking the game stats in a PM to me.

I prefer to get it all done in one night, and I have access to a computer far past that time (whenever I get too tired to stay awake ;)).

According to this, we will have multiple rounds tomorrow. If you cannot send the results in via computer, Shellshock will be online accepting these via message over XBL and in an open lobby answering any questions that might occur.

It is probably better to have 8 people because I don't see how 9 or 10 would work unless you had people sitting out rounds.

The modification matches the players with they're opponents for each respective rounds, whether or not that means all of the players participating in a round or not. We're doing this test to work out the kinks that may or may not arise, so having people sitting out for a round or so to simulate an absent player/team is understandable... amiright?;)

* Indicates selected party leader for the group.REMEMBER! Any game submitted/logged before the correct time period of allowed time to be played (9:10 EST) will not be counted and you will have to play another game.

Shellshock will provide a custom gametype for all rounds, failure to use this gametype will force a forfeit from the selected Party-Leader.

UPDATE: There is now a required GAMETYPE (http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=57824397) for round 1. It's up to the party leader to make sure that they have this gametype.

I couldnt make it because I had been borrowing Far Cry from my cousin till I got it myself then he went in a bitchfit and told me to return it so I gave it to my mom to return.She returned it to him personally but he didnt give me back the other games I let him borrow that included Halo3.So I blame him -_-
And I also decided to hang at my girlfriends place till 9:00, but my parents feel asleep so I didn't get home till 11:00.I am disappointed I wanted to play =[

crouchwalking for more than 2 minutes needs to be banned lol. Psycho was up by for and crouch walked around with a shotty and sniper for almost 5 minutes D:<

That's just his playing style. In a 1v1 or 2v2 match (small teams) it's common to find people hiding (HLG style... loser) and crouch walking a ton. There is nothing that we can do to enforce players to stop playing in a normal trend other then making the situation harder for them to do so (smaller map, larger teams, etc...).

Yeah, I crouch-walked a lot in ShellShock's and PsychoBucket's match, it was so funny.

Next time we hold a competition/tournament it will have more places that you cannot hide in (including trees and known HLG spots). Don't think that this one mock-tourney sets all of the standards for a full-blown one; in fact, we're probably going to have another mock-tourney that has small prizes to get at least 20 people involved.

all I have to say is psycho got off easy, but it won't happen again....

HAHA, well anyways, I wouldn't have liked Blackout because it doesn't have rockets.
In our first match he had a three point lead and I came back and tied it with my epic rockets.

rofl you think that's funny don't you? let me just say that as soon as he stopped I had 5 kills in 3 minutes, almost tying the game (it was 6-7). So we all know who the better player really was :p jk lol.

ALSO there needs to be a longer time limit, I didn't see a single match make it to the score to win, even while I was crushing assassin. 10 minutes is too short.

Yeah, the highest score I got was 11 kills against shell.
Then me and psycho only had 4 kills ea.

My 11 was on guardian, but you didn't get to play in round 1.
Shell nearly came back with his needler, but my camo-overshield-sniper-mauler combo was too much for him to handle.

I was practicing with Psycho on Guardian while we waited for our opponents and I was winning 3-1. Too bad it didn't count :/

7. A team has 15 minutes to show up with all the members of the team, before they are counted as a “No-Show”. To receive a win for a “No-Show” win, you must post within 30 minutes of the scheduled match time, and you must report it as a win for your team.

Our last mach was crazy in the last 2 seconds - Rockets vs Nades

Oh yah and when you gained the lead 4-3 in the first one, then hid behind a piller. Lol that was funny. Did you expect me not to see you there.

Anyways, in the rematch, my rocket exploded so close to me that it killed me and somehow you got the point for it, because your nade took down my shields. But apparently, my aim wasn't true with the rocket. Definitely a game for the record books.
