Is the map editor the same across all of the platforms? Or will there be a dubbed down version for the consoles?

I think there a slight differences across each platform, which is the reason that maps cannot be shared cross-platform.

Where did you hear that from?

I didn't know that kind existed until today. :o

I might just get Far Cry 2 for the PC too.

Here. (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=564)

With the information released during GC, there has been confusion on whether user maps will be shared cross-platform. Can you confirm if this will be available?
Cross-platform sharing is unfortunately not available right now. PC users can download PC maps, 360 users can download 360 maps, and so on. There will be slight differences that the PC map editor will have, which is why cross-platform sharing is not really an option. The exact differences will be talked about a bit later.

Which is the reason we have a separate map forum for each platform.

The map editor looks absolutely epic!

for a 360 video go here ==> Farcry media page (http://farcry.us.ubi.com/index.php?page=medias)

go to the bottom of the video screen and select video under the categories list and select Map editor under names.

This will show a 360 version of the editor. And no, the editor will not be dumbed down for the console versions

I'm not too sure... it really sounds like it is one after reading this:

I'm betting with the PC version you can probably download extra building and scenery models to import them into your map. There is just no way you can construct an entire tower like they show in the video without using a PC.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. There looks to be some pretty interesting building mechanics in the editor. I know that it took some guy 14 hours to make the Eiffel Tower pictured, but I'm not sure if that is PC or Console time.

Unfortunately, I already reserved the 360 version and I don't plan on getting the PC version.

I didn't reserve it but I will probably buy it when it comes out. I don't know which I will be playing more, Fallout or Far Cry ^_^

edit: I wonder if there will be a Fallout construction set just like there is a TES construction set for Oblivion??? That would be epic! (sorry, getting off topic)

If you plan to get Far Cry 2 very shortly after release, I would suggest reserving it. Anybody that reserves it at GameStop gets a free upgrade to the Collector's Edition and gets a bunch of bonus missions and such.

In my opinion:

Halo 3 Forge is a map EDITOR

and

Far Cry 2 is equipped with a full on map CREATOR that basically takes you as far as you want to go.

Same here. I thought they sold me the wrong one, but I didn't say anything against it. ;)
