Official Forgery Poll #2: Forum Structure

If you had to decide, how would you rather have the forum be setup?

Would you rather keep it how it is, with all Forgery games on one forum so it is all right there.

Would you rather have a separate forum for each and every game?
This would mean navigating between the forums to see different games, although you would only need to login once.

Again, is there another option that I haven't thought of?

Note: This is only speculation, don't expect anything drastic to change. Just getting an idea of preferences for possible future expansion.

I think we should leave it like it is with only Halo 3 and Farcry 2, but change it when we expand to more games. I think we should wait untill we get to four games, if we even get that many.

The thing behind that being that every new forum is going to cost us another license and domain, which is around $200. Waiting to spend $200/forum until we need 5 forums, that's $1000 right out of pocket.

Just to put this in perspective, our ads bring in enough to pay for the domain for this site, and very little else.

What about that thing I was talking about before where you could tab the forum into different sections (Xforgery General tab, Halo 3 tab, Far Cry 2 tab). Wouldn't that be like the same thing without spending all that money? But even that probably wouldn't be usefull unless we add more games.

I was thinking, when we get enough games to make the list really, really, really, long we should use this mod (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=175687) that PsychoBucket found ages ago but have the tabs be for the consoles, then games inside of that. This would be a massive overhaul of the site and we'd probably futz something up, but would give us a lot more organization if we have a really long list of games supported.

I personally don't think we should split up games if they are multi-platform.

That would mean that we would need to have a separate forum category for each of
Far Cry 2 (360), Far Cry 2 (PS3) & Far Cry 2 (PC). If we did that, where would the Far Cry 2 General stuff go?

I'm liking the mod, but I think if we were to do it, we'd need to set it up where each game had its own tab, and then there would be a General tab for our General section now. Then, like now, each game would also have its own front page, but from that front page, if you clicked on the forum link, it would take you to the right Tab for that game.

5 Tabs. General, Multi-Platform, Computer, Playstation 3, Xbox 360.

It's too far out for us to really have a full discussion on this now since we only have 2 officially supported games. Take it one step at a time, right now the step being Review Team... :thumbdown:

We'd have to mess around with both to see which would look better, which I why I just wanted to drop the discussion about the mod that I brought up. I'll bring up, though, that GameBattles (http://gamebattles.com/) uses platforms to break up their games, and I like it like that. They do have more supported consoles, though.
