Ooh, a question about your driving habits. I hope you're a good driver since I'm out there on the road as well. :p

Basically, the question is asking if you go the speed limit and if not, over or under. For tipsta who is going to say "need an option for us who don't have a license but still drive" I say "no" in return. I'm not going to put that option.

Onto myself: I generally drive under the speed limit, but not in excess of 5mph. Probably not even 3mph. I don't see the reason in speeding and there's generally too much traffic for me to speed and get any benefit. It's not like I'm not going to hit that red light going 55mph than going 50mph. The light might even be green by the time I get there going the speed limit or even a little under. To say my point, I don't speed.

So, now it's your turn. For Europeans, are your speed limits in km/h?

It depends on who else is in the car with me. Not my mom or dad (or any parents for that reason) then usually right on the limit. Otherwise, way faster than I should.

5 mph over the speed limit won't give you a ticket. ;)

I know people that have tickets to prove that wrong...

Well it depends. If it is a 25, you obviously can't, but in a 55, you can go 60 no problem. But I guess it depends on the area. See, I find myself getting passed by a few people when I go 60. It really depends on the area.

I generally go right at the speed limit or just a little over 2-3mph, except in rain then I go under.

To be honest (and with statistics to back this up) the average speed on roads around and in my town is 35 mph, that being said the average speed limit is 17 mph. I never think twice about driving 5mph over, even driving instructors and police officers will be seen going ten over the limit. The only knowledge I have of tickets are when the driver was going 15+ over the limit. Once I leave around where I live, I usually go 5 mph over tops.

Oh yea, I forgot to say that I only go fast when it's a straight away, I usually take corners (like at intersections) at about 10-15mph.

The only place I think everyone should do the Speed Limit is in Playground/ School Ground Zones and Residential areas- Everywhere else is fair game.

I have no respect for the motherfuckers that haul ass through a playground zone, sometimes I go vigilante and do things I often regret. I drive a piece of shit truck and I have a huge brush guard. If your ride isnt a piece of shit, than dont speed through Playgrounds or it soon will be.

If you drive safely- Cheers, I wish there was more people like you on our roads.

So, now it's your turn. For Europeans, are your speed limits in km/h?

It's km/h here in Canada - so for your options 5mph is approx. 8kmph.

I generally speed, but it is largely dependant on the road I'm on. Most of the city streets here are 50km/h (35 mph), and I'll generally go between 50 and 60 kph (35 and 40 mph). I mostly know where the cops sit, so obviously I keep to the speed limit there. On the faster roads (80 km/h - 50 mph), I'll generally go up to 90 km/h, sometimes 100 km/hr (65 mph), and depending on time of day and traffic and the road I'm on I'll go even faster.

Highways are a different story. On the major highways in Alberta, the speed limit is 110 km/hr (70 mph), but the cops generally won't stop you unless you're going 125+, because so many people go up to 140 and beyond. Traffic usually moves at about 120 km/h, which makes sense because that's 75 mph, the general Interstate speed limit in the USA.

When I was driving through Montana and Idaho a couple of weeks ago, I decided to see how fast my car would go. I was disappointed to find that it's governed at 200 km/h (140 mph), but I managed to get it up to about 205. That's damn fast. I can't imagine NASCAR where they get up to 360 km/h.

I couldn't agree with you more about the Playground and School zones. That's recklessly endangering a lot of people. I'm fine if you want to go out and endanger yourself (like I do quite often - read above post), but nobody has the right to endanger other people by flying through Playground or School zones or residential areas.

Seeing all these votes for no driver's license and knowing those voters are mostly under 16 makes me feel really old being on this site, and I'm only 22.

Anyway, I generally go 5 over, unless traffic is passing me still, in which case I do whatever traffic is doing and ignore speed limits.
