Wait, what?

That's right folks, XForgery is facing off against ForgeHub in the first gamenight in a while! If you saw this thread (http://xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7011), you'd have had a chance at guessing, but now it's the real deal! mista tipsta (regrettably :P) guessed it! All of this was set up with the help of Sarge. We appreciate his help in helping to set up this gamenight. If you wish to know the bare minimum, here it is:

Date: February 12th
Time: 8 PM EST
Games: Halo 3 | Modern Warfare 2
To join, you'll receive an invite. Join quick enough, and you're in.
Lastly, support. We expect to see a lot of Flying Zeros out there!

Now, time for an in-depth look.

When is it?

The date of conception will be Friday, February 12th, 2010 (as if you needed to know the year). The time, you ask? Why, 8 PM eastern timezone, of course. And to fill up space...

What games will we be playing?
Only the two best games in the history of mankind (it's an opinion, people), Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2. Did I just hear someone ask what gametypes and maps will be played? Well, to keep you all in suspense...

We're not revealing them yet! Haha (Take that, Boston!)! That's right! Go ahead and call me a puny, dizzy-eyed maggot-pie (Shakespearean insults FTW!), but it doesn't change the fact that the gametypes and maps will be revealed at a later, to be announced, date... to keep you all in suspense!

How can I join?

Much like the WoW, joining is simple. When the games start, Sarge will send out invites to those on the loser's ForgeHub's side, and I will send out invites to those who wish to support XForgery! I will let you know that if you join and you aren't bearing the Flying Zero, you will be booted without question. Thanks! Now, when the games switch and head over into Modern Warfare 2, don't expect to stay in the party. On our side, we will continuously be rotating players after each game. This is a team effort people. We're in this to win this!

All in all, I expect support to be shown, love to be shared, and a grand prize* for all of us! So, get out there and show some winrar!

If XF wins, I'll bring my uber coding skills back to XF for one more big project, assuming you guys can agree on something for me to do (within reason). I see this friendly competition as a way for both communities to play together and maybe make some new friends in the process. I'm playing Halo since that's what the sites (and by extension the entire event) focus on But since I stopped playing it regularly with the release of CoD4, I've not played well in a very long time. That being said, I kick ass on MW2 : P

I think he was trying to say both sides should limit the use of those killstreaks as a means of not ending the game prematurely, not giving away strategy.

If we really wanted to make it fair, we could go no killstreaks or just run on CoD4's killstreak system, but that's neither here nor there and probably wont happen.

Okay, I see what you mean. I was reading it as if he meant for the people on XF to not use the Nuke because it's not easy to get and it would be better to get a easier kill streak than the nuke for more kills.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that I will be invited being that Shellshock is giving out the invites. I will play either but I knife class in MW2 and I am not sure if that is being outlawed due to some honor rule. Halo is fine I will just have to warm up because I haven't played it in months.

what they don't realize is that Shellshock and I get to decide what's acceptable and in all likelihood this interpretation will be the case

Generally, no glitching whatsoever, and despite what you believe, the care package exploit is a glitch. It's a fun, non-gamebreaking one that may or may not have been intended, but it's a glitch nonetheless. Furthermore, perks, weapons and killstreaks will be largely left to their own devices provided they don't exploit the game system (i.e. infinite noob tubes via one man army)...well aside from the nuke, I'd support it in any game, but for the purposes of community-blending, a quick game-ender is a bit counterproductive, but it'll probably stay in.

Ohh, well i dont know what you guys use nukes for, but i usually let the other team get the lead and save it for the last 10 seconds. That way the game can be played and i can keep getting kills. I never use a nuke right when i get it.

It would be awesome if someone just gave a game by game description of the matches. It would be cool and probably somewhat humorous to see how the matches went.

I'm recording the matches with my HD capcard :D

I'm also going to try and stream them, provided the setup I had will still work and wont lag my connection much (it takes some tinkering to keep the output quality for recording max whilst still being able to stream properly)

I'm a sniper though, so I'm not sure how entertaining it'd be to watch me play, unless I start herding people...or they start rushing me....then the fun begins. muahahahahaha

Also, Shellshock said he's going to stream for sure.

Either way, both stream links will be provided on both sites on game day.

As for Nukes, knife classes, etc: hasn't been decided yet, and it'll probably just be a matter of "okay" or "no" on a game-by-game basis.

We've the maps picked out already, for both games, just a matter of playing them at this point.

I'm also going to be playing MW2 the rest of that night too, so anyone who wants in could join.

This further I would rather retract my hand completely remove my interest from this event and show a void in the idea you start. Maybe in that void you can see the reconnection of the self community you hold. XF has many members claiming the title to help and come to this said event. I'm in total insult to your community in the way they have retracted the option to come to this event. This is more directed to those that are picked as the leading members of your community. What is the point of Jousting if I compete against a ghost. ...

I would rather see XF put in the effort to have WoW event of it's own then to divide it own self over the petty colors of stripes and banners.

I have read over Null's response to this event and in so doing... My own resolve has led me to remove my hand back as well.

No hard feeling for it was a good attempt but I would rather see something become of friendship than to be insulted by the amount of devotion your site shows.

I on the other hand know where he is coming from and I respect his decision to not want to participate in the event for his own personal reasons. However, I think that you are going a little too off the deep end about it.

I been to your site and dug deeply into its roots ... I know there is many community members then what is coming to this event. Let that remind you that if you come to something half heart, you have not the heart to play XF.

As you may or may not know I am very against this idea... from this point on. I state my opinion and leave. Again with love I hold back... please do not take this as this event can't go on... I'll be neither bitter nor harsh but I would rather see something better be in it's place.

Anywho, I've said it before and I'll say it again, the entire point of this is to bring the two communities together but hatemongerers take it the way they will.

This, regardless of what it usually is or what you think it is, is nothing more than friendly competition, and it's not even that. We're not playing the normal competitive games that we normally do, because this isn't a competition, we're playing smart casual games, and hell, we're throwing in Modern Warfare 2 (which is to the dismay of a few of my peers). THIS IS FOR FUN. NO MORE.

We had a blast on the Halo front. I played in 2 games where I lagged badly for about half of it, so I was running around doing whatever and having fun messing with the lag.

Snipers = camp.

We played on camping maps and I was calling shots for other people, which you couldn't hear. I'm a support sniper, which means I tell others how to approach various situations.

I run around, but if people are knifing or there's crazy lag, I camp.

and I always call shots unless nobody else is talking.

I went through different playstyles when Mw2 first released, one of them was a runner class in place of my snipe ones, where I made frequent use of the throwing knife, I was good.

Then I stopped using it, forgot the timing and angle of the throw, and forgot how to use it.

Then I started using it again, I'm getting better but I'm not as good with it as I'd like to be.

i just recently started with the throwing knife, but caught on because of a previous ability to aim (very well i might add) and cook frags in cod4. but its true, the throw knife has a very different angle do it.... its weird.
