There has been much talk of the new map "Sandbox" being exactly what the name says, but no one is exactly sure what it is. I would like to know what you think about this, and here's a few things that have been discussed.

I for one would be greatly pleased to see this...it may give me ample reason to play Halo more - i find I spend more time on here now than I do on Halo, because my interest in the game is fading. The community here, however, is always interesting.

Well I'm hoping for a map as big and open as sandtrap, but also flat and empty.

I also hope there is an option for you to switch the floor on/off!

I can tell you, sadly, that it's not the map that everyone was like "OMGAH WE'RE GETTING THE GREEN SQUARES!!!!!1!" Can't wait for it, whatever it is, though.

yes, but there is a good chance that it was built for forging.

i remember gollum telling me of someone who hacked into halo to sort through added files.. and around the same time they released the video including the "square/grid" type map.. Sandbox appeared in the files.

Not diving through the Halo 3 forum to find it, but even if you think about it like this: If Bungie could give us a blank grid like that, wouldn't they give us AI and downloadable armor perms? Both of which they said they cannot do, nor are they, and the video with the AI in Rats Nest was they're version of forge - like the new maps in matchmaking.

I see no reason why they could not make such a map. Obviously they can't/won't put AI in forge, but where is the reason behind saying that it's not possible for them to make a grid-like map to sate our forging lust?
