okay.. seriosly?
i love how we have more updates on home page but..
all your doing is copying bungie.net's update scripts on here..
If i wanted to see what Bungie is updating then i would go to bungie.net
Since im here to check in with halo3forgery (Xforgery) id rather like to see updates on here.
i know that bungies updates really do affect us as a community.. since were Half run off of bungie, but i feel the most you should do is mention a few interesting things there going to do, and maybe incorperate them into our community.. Anybody can just copy and paste..
Now, i suggest that you dismantle these last couple copies, and rewrite them with less plagerism...

^^^ not very nice...
He has a point though. If anything, post a normal update and post a link to that specific update.

Yeah, we did just copy and paste, but some people, like myself, completely forget about the Bungie Updates and this is a good reminder. And when I get the reminder, what's the point in navigating away from the site just to read it when it could be right here? It's personal preference, no need to get nasty.

The main point of posting these is to discuss them with the people here, not necessarily 'read them first' here. Try descent conversations at BNet discuss pages.. good luck getting a response.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!! Plus there is no reason to go to bungie.net except to read the updates and post maps.

notice how you go to bungie to read them, not read them here..
and yes null, i know reminders are great, i forget alot of the time too (and sorry if i sound nasty but i normally take this attitude towards things when i feel they are wrong... dont take me to strongly)
But as a reminder you should probably post a forum thread about it so people can talk about the updates on the site.. i feel that is a great way to get views on what bungie is implementing on to our systems, and for our community to connect..
however, i dont think this needs a front page spot..
to me this is a waste of space, and time for me to look at the same thing re-posted that i read a week ago. so maybe if you want to remind us you could (like i stated before) post a link to the bungie update and a small remark about it, and leave it to the forum to discuss the updates as our community.
seriously think about this.. longer then most of you would just read someones post and jabber on and on. (not pointing fingers)

My point is that I do not go there to read the updates anymore (because they are here).

I agree that it doesn’t need to be on the front page, but think of the alternative. The home page changes twice every month, and that gets kind of boring. It makes the Home page obsolete because you can just look on the forums and you will find the news anyway.(No, I am not suggesting we do this)

People don't want to navigate away from the forum just to remember what the update was about. If you don't want to read it, you can simply skip it and go down to the discussion.
Now if these would just be on time, more people would skip going to bungie altogether and you wouldn't have to complain about reading it a week ago.

Well, thanks for agree'ing and i know, the updates on the front page get very slow sometimes.. maybe should suggest some good front page material?
This would keep people on the homepage.. as i normally go there anyways for its updates on maps and the site, but there still isnt a need to have to report other peoples news over our news.
Normally when i step into a site for the first time, and there home page calls out what i already know, or can get from a direct source (more reliable) i normally step back.. to me these sites just repeat things because they have nothing withen themselves to repeat.. and as a first impression i find this to lead me faster out of the site, then i was led in. (maybe its just me)

Forgery isnt made for every bit of discussion, sometimes we need to bring outside sources in for discussion, i still dont feel its a need to make it a top update.

I could take it upon myself to right all these updates from the whole month in to a a few paragraphs full of nothing but juicy info and pics.

Well the September Challenge should Definitely be on the front page before this.

i agree, they just need someone (a journalist) to write these for the site..
as the site grows.. we gotta keep people entertained.
and forgehubs journalists seem to have it going for them.. just not the site overall (at least for me)
We also need to start featuring maps and having those get front page posts, or a pic on the front page with a blurp about them and link to the original post.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!! Plus there is no reason to go to bungie.net except to read the updates and post maps.No other reason than reading updates and posting maps? There are about maybe 5 other forums that have activity on there that you can post in. Including private groups and such. I don't see why anyone would only visit Bungie for that purpose. I post on Bungie everyday just to interact with the community. It just perturbes me how someone could only have those reasons to visit there. Especially someone like yourself who, as I have seen in the past month, loves to interact with the community and enjoys posting a lot.
On-topic. I like having the weekly updates here so I can discuss them with the other members. I don't see why it shouldn't be there.

That's the only reason I go there. I find it hard to interact in that community because one of two things happens.
You never get your opinion heard.
Your opinion is heard by a bunch of morons who just flame you in return.

I would try the Community/Septagon forum. Much better than the Flood or the Halo 3 forum. Less flaming and more intelligent discussions. The only drawback is the many many repeat threads.

Ok maybe I should have added groups (because that is where I found forgery), but most of the good groups get websites. And maybe looking up the stats, but you also have halocharts.com, where you can see the same thing and compare your stats to others. I actually think that bungie.net is great. I used to be on that site all the time. The thing is that if you just look, you can find different websites that can do some of the great aspects of bungie.net better.
The one thing I don't like is the forums. To me a community is a place where you can get to know the members of the community, so I would not consider bungie.net a community. Bungie.net is more like a world.
Bungie.net = World
Forgehub = Continent
Forgery = Town/Community/Soon To Be Continent
That is why I like Forgery. It is like bungie.net forums filtered down to the people who I actually want to talk to.

I agree that Forgery Challenges should appear on the front page, and I'm not sure why they weren't.
I'm not convinced that Bungie Updates should be removed, but I have done so for the time being, because I can see the merit in how they take up space for something that you've probably already read. The Updates will definitely still remain on the site for discussion, they just might stay removed from the front page.

thankyou, i feel this is just another step in having a better community, and being more based off of ourselves then another site.
i definatly agree with keeping the updates for discussion, just obviously dont think it should appear on our updates..
if you have any objections or anyting then post here? probably leave to thread up instead of locking/solving it since null is still wishy washy in seeing how this plays out.
It's solved, there is no un-official thread in the suggestions that will remain open for discussions for long, after the community has reached a good standpoint (whether or not I get a say in it) then we'll do something about it, deeming the thread locked/solved.

I'm going to close it for now, because I don't see it changing.
