Welcome to a special edition of Xforgery Firefight Fridays for November 13th!

Why is this particular XFFF special? Well not only is this the first user's choice XFFF event, but there's also Microsoft points* on the line this week. Yes this event may be a weekly thing and the user's choice event happens every seven events, but it's only once a month when the prizes get bigger and better.

This event will take place on Last Exit as voted by the people here at Xforgery! Regardless if you voted for this or not, you still have to kick some ass and get the highest score!

What is XFFF?

XFFF or "XForgery Firefight Fridays" is an event that happens every Friday. This event will test your team's firefighting skill with other teams as you compete for the top of the leaderboards for glory and prizes. This won't be no 2 hour event or an event in which your team must show up at this day during this certain time. No. This will be a 12 HOUR EVENT for the competitive teams and an ALL WEEKEND affair for those who like to play in the casual department.

What does that mean? Instead of just playing one game during that 12 hour span, you can play as many games as your thumbs will allow you to in an attempt to get the highest score. Sounds easy right? Well it isn't. The covenant are tenacious and will do everything in their power to destroy your chances for glory! Teamwork is essential to success.

How do I sign up for XFFF?

If you want to register as a team leader, send me or another active event director a private message with the title "XFFF registration". From there you will be assigned a team number for your squad. You have until November 12th at 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time) to register as a team leader.

As team leader, you are responsible for getting a team together to compete. Also by registering as team leader, you and your team have already read the rules and regulations for this event (see the rules section in this post if you need a refresher). Failure to follow these rules and your game will not count in the competitive division.

What if I don't want to be Team Leader?

If you want to participate in the competitive division regardless if you're team leader or not, you must register on XForgery.com along with having a valid gamertag in your profile (you can add your gamertag by clicking on "User CP" at the top of this page and then clicking "edit your details" under the control panel tab). If you've been visiting this site as a guest for a while and been thinking about becoming a member, now is a good time to register. :)

You can register here: http://www.xforgery.com/forum/register.php

Be sure to check the list of team leaders in this thread to see who has an open spot. You can always PM them to get more information.

How does my team submit our scores?

The designated Team Leader will submit the team's highest firefighting score to me or an event director. If you're playing on the competitive side, it's best to wait until Saturday to submit your scores. However don't wait too long on submitting your score, as you have until November 15th @ 11:59 AM (Central Standard Time) to submit your final scores.

You can submit your scores anytime before that but just remember that if you beat that score and fail to submit that game, I will only count the last score submitted. Be sure to have a valid bungie.net link to your carnage report because anyone can make up a number.

Do I have to get a full party of four to participate?

No! You do not need a full party to participate, if you and another Xforgery member can get the highest score as a duo or if you have the confidence to go solo (we are playing Legendary after all), then by all means go for it. Just make sure one of you registers as a team leader.

NEW RULE IN EFFECT (XFFF VI and beyond): If you're a team leader and want to join with another team leader in his party, you are now allowed to do that. However please be advised that the purpose of team leader is to give other people the opportunity of playing firefight with you. So while this is now legal I don't recommend doing this. Also by joining another team leader in his party you are no longer team leader until you create your own party once again. A party of 3-4 team leaders is still illegal.

How big of a window do I have for my team to play our firefight games?

For Competitive teams:

Friday November 13th from 12:00 PM - 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time)

West Coast: 10:00 AM - 9:59 PM
Mountain: 11:00 AM - 10:59 PM
East Coast 1:00 PM - 12:59 AM

For Casual Teams:

12:00 PM on Friday, November 13th until 11:59 PM Sunday November 15th (Central Standard Time).

(!) XFFF Rules and Regulations [IMPORTANT INFO INSIDE] (!)

Click on the spoiler below to read all the rules for both divisions.

Competitive Event Rules

- Firefight games must be on "Legendary" difficulty to count.

- You must play on the firefight map "Last Exit".

- All participating players must be registered here as a member of Xforgery.com.

- Guest accounts are not allowed.

- Banned Xforgery members are not allowed (unless the ban expires before the event begins)

Note: If a member of your team is not an Xforgery member, a banned member, or a guest, it will count as a casual session instead of a competitive one.

- Before the squad can play. One person must have a dedicated Team Leader to submit games they've played to me or an event director. They can only submit this information via PM with the name "XFFF Best game". You must also provide a link to the game's carnage report on bungie.net.

- Team Leader must register with me or an event director prior to starting the event.

- Anyone can be Team leader. However if there's already an abundance of Team Leaders, it might be best to fill up the parties of other Team Leaders first.

- Since Team Leader is the only person that MUST register, he/she can pick any 3 XForgery members that are willing to play, and these spots can be replaced on the fly with another XForgery member if the person doesn't show up. This should eliminate the problem of team members not showing up or the team being a guy short.

- If you're a team leader and want to join with another team leader in his party, you are now allowed to do that. However please be advised that the purpose of team leader is to give other people the opportunity of playing firefight with you. Also by joining another team leader in his party you are no longer team leader until you create your own party once again. A party of 3-4 team leaders is still illegal.

- If you register as a Team Leader, you must play with your team sometime during the event or your team will be listed as a no show.

- Team Numbers will be assigned to Team Leaders in the order they register which will start with the number 0 (irony). Then proceed with 1,2, etc.

Example:

- Team 0 (Team 0 Leader)
- Team 1 (Team 1 Leader)
- Team 2 (Team 2 Leader)
- Team 3 (Team 3 Leader)

- You must play in the time period provided. If you start your session a minute before the time period officially starts, your game will not count. If you start your session a minute before the time period ends and the game goes on for 2 hours, it will still count.

Example 1:

I start my game at 11:58 AM. It ends at 12:10 PM. However the event doesn’t begin until 12:00 PM. That game will not count.

Example 2:

I start my game at 11:59 PM. It ends at 12:30 AM. The event itself ends at 11:59 PM. Because the game started while the event was still going on even though it was the last minute, the game will still count.

NOTE: If you’re a team that wants to squeeze another game at the last minute, don’t do it at the absolute last minute. It might be 11:59 on your clock, but Bungie’s clock might say 12:01.

- Team Leaders must submit their final score by November 15th @ 11:59 AM (Central Standard Time).

- You can play as many games as you want within the time period provided. Only your best Firefight session will count (unless you want to piss off your teammates and submit your crappy game).

- The team with the highest firefight score wins the event and the prize for that week.

Note: If you leave the team and they post a higher score without you. You’re no longer eligible to win the prize.

Casual Event Rules

- Firefight games can be played on any difficulty.

- You can play on any firefight map.

- You can choose anyone to play with you. They don't have to be a member of Xforgery although you should mention this place *cough*

- Guest accounts are allowed.

- No registration is required. Just submit your best game via PM to me or an event director with a valid carnage report on bungie.net. Just make sure you put the title "Casual session" in your PM. You have until Sunday November 15th @ 11:59 PM CST to submit your casual scores.

- You must play in the time period provided. If you start your session a minute before the time period officially starts, your game will not count. If you start your session a minute before the time period ends and the game goes on for 2 hours, it will still count.

- You can play as many games as you want within the time period provided. Only your best Firefight session will count.

- The team with the highest firefight score in each difficulty gets honorable mentions on Xforgery.com.

What are the prizes for winning?

Each member of the winning team in the competitive division will receive the following prizes for this week:

- 1600 Microsoft points, or a Paypal equivalent to non US residents.
- One week of Supporter status (access to blogs, the colored forum and a custom title).
- The badass looking firefighter medal (click spoiler below)
- Bragging Rights

Last week's winners

The torch has been passed from one legacy to the next. PsychoBucket (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=42) and Zackj191 (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=286), who won 3 straight XFFF events together, saw their streak come to a screeching halt last week by not one team, but one person. Null Parameter (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=2) in a solo effort, got the highest score of XFFF VI last week with an impressive 154,396 (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ODSTg.aspx?gameid=63673419&player=Null%20Parameter). Null also broke a 2 game streak of Soren515 (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=365) who helped Zack and Psycho win XFFF IV and V.

Should Null win again, he will become the fifth person to obtain the Firefighter x2 medal.

Casual Mentions

We also have some casual scores to share with you guys:

PsychoBucket (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=42), determined as ever, got one of the best firefight scores ever submitted. His grand total of 1 point (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ODSTg.aspx?gameid=64279904&player=psychobucket) holds the record of the lowest XFFF casual score ever submitted.

This record was previously held by Shellshock (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=13), who submitted a score of 13 (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ODSTg.aspx?gameid=63677879&player=ShellShockNinja) on the previous day. However it's still worth a mention.

Nulls Wife (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=413), on the other hand, was serious business. Her goal was to get more than one headshot and with this submission (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ODSTg.aspx?gameid=64883123&player=Nulls%20Wife), she did just that. Congratulations on a job well done!

Below is the list of registered team leaders (will be updated as time goes along). If you want to be part of a team, it might be best to PM these guys unless they beat you to it.

I'm probably only going to be able to play 12-3, so if you are on then you can join my team.

Well if you are on at that time, ill join your team. I just figured that there wouldn't be many people on at that time.

No, it was better. It seems to me that you have like some weird pattern with your scores. You seem to have like 3 or 4 games in a row with really high # of deaths and low scores then and amazing low # of deaths and a high ass score. Did you catch that too?

Zackj191
11-13-2009, 07:14 PM
Good job DF! You most likely win! My team gave up on me because they suck ass and I have't had time to play more that a couple full games without some fucking bullshit interruption. I just had to go and drive my brother and his stupid fucking friends over to the football game which I am going to in a small bit. They couldn't wait? Wtf. Anyway, nice job.

Well if Death wins in a solo effort that saves me a lot of money. XD

4 hours remain.

DeathsFriend22

Nope, just got 183,056 points with Dylan in a game that took almost a full hour of play.

link to game for anyone who wants to see it (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ODSTg.aspx?gameid=66010403&player=deaths%20friend22). Sorry about the 20 extra bucks, Tim.

On the bright side, there's almost no chance of anyone getting higher than us, even with a larger team.

0 chance. Seeing as I was the only other team leader online today and I decided that the last football game of the year was more important than a video game. I also wanted to save Tim $40, because I would of had a 4 man team.

Regardless if 183,056 ends up being the official score or is surpassed at the last minute by another score, this event will break the record of highest XFFF score ever submitted. Getting a score this high on legendary is no easy feat and I don't know if you guys would of been able to pull it off. Hell my highest ever on legendary was 145k.

Then again you and Psycho have won this event 3 times, so anything can happen with you two under the helm.

Yay! We won!

I don't want to really give a whole lot of our strategies away, but one thing I will say is that the carbine is probably the greatest weapon in the entire game. There's plenty of carbine jackals to take ammo from, and it isn't affected by that damned tilt skull. It also kills brutes really fast, and it will headshot a chieftan before he can turn on his invincibility.

Really? I've always used the pistol. My favorite weapon by far in the entire game. When I was trying it solo I started to like the smg too. never really liked it before but it's useful against brutes.

Yeah, if you have more than 1 person, you can grab a carbine and an SMG, and let another person take the rockets and just trade between the SMG and pistol. The carbine will kill almost anything except for the drones, so you use the SMG for that.

Also, since the carbine is technically a plasma weapon, it takes down shields really fast, and all you have to do is get a headshot for the kill. It's much more efficient than the SMG.

I never thought of it as a plasma weapon.. Duh. Well, I usually leave the rockets until Chieftan or Hunter rounds so they don't disappear if I die.

I still think the pistol has a more accurate headshot advantage over the carbine, but that's just me. I still go with the bitch combo to take down shields rather than waste bullets with the carbine, and it's always good to have when it comes to levels that have engineers.

I just thought of something. This has always been a 12 hour event, but was there a reason for that? For me, my Friday nights often extend into Saturday, and I'm sure people stay up later then me.

It might be a good idea to extend it to a time where no one would get cut off from playing during the night, and no one would be tempted to play after they wake up. I know that it would be hard with the different time zones, but one of these might work.

5AM Central = 3AM Pacific - 6am Eastern
6AM Central - 4AM Pacific - 6AM Eastern

The times have already been adjusted 2 hours earlier to cater to those who live in the central/eastern time zones. There are currently no plans to adjust or expand the times for competitive play at this time.
