XForgery September Update (1 of 2)
Oh my goodness........
That's all I have to say right now.
We've been down for 3 days, and we would really like to apologize for that. Our one valid excuse is that our web host sucks at responding to our issues, which means that we didn't have any DB for quite sometime, which means that we couldn't help not being up and running because not even I could login. :(
Well, as you can see, we have a lot of changes, so I'm going to blow past the normal formalities I have in these updates and just go to the juicy parts.
What happened to H3F?
Well, the first thing you most likely realized is that our domain has had a substantial change. While Halo3Forgery still exists, we are going to be expanding our horizons to new opportunities.
So, from this point forward, our new base of operations is XForgery.com (http://www.xforgery.com).
We went with .com this time, because people complained about the .org last time.
You'll also notice a pretty, new homepage with a giant X on it. This X leads us to the next discussion.
New Addition to the Lineup
That's right, we added Far Cry 2 to our forums. This means that when the game comes out on October 21st, you don't need to go anywhere else to share your maps made with the new fangled map editor, you'll be able to share them right here.
Along with that, is the addition of the Far Cry 2 Forums, and the splitting of some old ones.
New Halo 3 Forum Structure
You'll notice that we took some people's advice to heart and rearranged the map forums. We took the best of both worlds, maps are first separated by their Map Pack Release, and then into sub-categories from there, when necessary.
Along with this comes an overhaul of the Map Submission Forms. You will only need to submit maps based on the Map Pack they belong to, from there you can choose to place them into a subcategory, if you so choose, and the form will place the map where it is best suited to go. There are numerous other changes as well to the forms, so I suggest you go in and take a peek.
One suggestion I added in is one requested from FH members. You can now pick your own submission format, without having to fill in the whole form, if you so chose. There's a little checkbox that will turn this option on/off.
Any Issues?
Because of these gigantic changes we've been making, there is a big chance that there might be issues. If there are any, open up a thread in the Tech Support Forum (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5).
Sadly, there are some issues we can't handle ourselves. For instance, if you have links to your maps in your signature, they will need to be transferred from halo3forgery.org to xforgery.com. There isn't too much we can do about this.
Random Other Updates
We did a bunch of other random updates to stuff as well. Including AME, Imageshack embedder and the Image Resizer.
The most notable being the Image Resizer, where you can now click on any image and just click the Next/Prev buttons to scroll through all of the images in the post.
Random series of short updates......
Chat Forum
The Chat/Spam forum has been renamed to General Chat, to avoid having actual Spam in there and thus giving off the wrong idea.
Also, we have added a new modification that will lock any threads in General Chat if they have been inactive for 30 days.
Quick Reply
We added the Quick Reply option that you will now find at the bottom of each Thread. And for those who used it before, we removed the Must Click Before Use option.
Moderation
Woozy (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=3) got Moderator, enough said. Congratulate him!
