You're hiding in a room as the last man standing, with 2 shotgun shells left in your gun, and a half dozen zombies closing in on your location. They come foaming at the mouth, ready to rip that helmet off and dig into your cranium for some delicious brains. It won't be too long now until this becomes a reality. They have been relentless since they discovered the survivors location and their numbers are staggering, too much for one person to take. Brute force will not win this battle nor will running away do anything besides tire you out. This room is going to be your last stand and it WILL be your last moment alive. If you're going to die and become one of them, at least take several of these mindless bastards with you.
You put the last two shells in your shotgun and point it at the door:
"I'm ready"
=============================================
Welcome one and all to The 2009 Halloween event! This event will take a departure from customs and instead focus on the Ranked Living Dead playlist Bungie will be dishing out on Halloween weekend. What does this mean to you? Why the opportunity to murder endless amounts of zombies while competing against one another for a rare medal, a custom title stating how badass you really are, and Microsoft points.
How do I sign up and participate?
In order to participate, make sure you've linked your gamertag to bungie.net (like so (http://www.bungie.net/stats/halo3/rankhistory.aspx?player=The%20Cheat902)). You will also need to have the Mythic Disk in order to participate in this event. If you haven't grabbed a copy of ODST yet, you might want to get on that or you'll be SOL (it was Bungie's decision to make the Mythic disk a requirement to play in this playlist, not mine)!
Registrations will begin next week on Monday, October 26th and will end on Wednesday the 28th @ 11:59 PM central time. If you want to participate, make sure you post in the registration thread when the time comes.
Finally you have to be a member of XForgery, but of course we all knew that. ;)
How will you monitor everyone's XP?
It's simple. In your profile there's a nice little section showing off all the ranks you've obtained along with all the XP you've obtained in each playlist (including the double xp ones). When you register, the event directors will gather up the information and go from there. When the playlist disappears, we will subtract your current xp number from the one before the event to get the difference and ultimately your final score.
Just because you have a lot of xp in this playlist does not mean you have an instant advantage over the competition. Everyone starts out clean.
Let me break it down for ya:
Name -- Living Dead xp Before -- Living dead xp after -- difference/final score
Joe -- 0 xp -- 100 xp -- 100
Larry -- 56 xp -- 132 xp -- 76
Here's Joe and Larry. As you can see, Larry had more xp to begin with than Joe, but because Joe produced more xp than Larry during this event, Joe ended up getting a higher score and winning the event.
What's the reward for killing so many damn zombies?
The user with the highest difference will receive the following rewards:
- 1600 Microsoft points
- The custom title of "Survivor"
- The only person to wear this award until Halloween 2010:

Survivor (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/awards.php?do=viewaward&award_id=59) - Awarded to the winner of the XForgery Halloween event.
What happens if there's a tie?
In the event of a tie, we will go by the K/D ratio from the last game. So hopefully you didn't die too much.
We Out
Well that's it for now. Keep an eye out for the registration thread next Monday and try not to get killed by any zombies before then. If you have any questions regarding the event, feel free to ask.
Special thanks to The Cheat for coming up with this event.
