Well, the time has come for me to move on to bigger things, and no I'm not taking up a post at ForgeHub. ;)

I've decided, for many reasons, that I'm not really needed here anymore. I've been working very hard recently to put people into leading positions to help drive the site independently, without me. Not necessarily so I could leave, but it serves that purpose nicely as well.

I always tell people that they should do what makes them happy, and while I love you guys, doing all this work wears you down and I just need a permanent break. Recent happenings haven't helped this at all, as I've recently discovered that what I have been doing hasn't been appreciated and apparently was me just pissing into the wind, because I wasn't supposed to be your Administrator, I was just here for grunt work.
Homer: Thomas...
Homer: dont you own XF...
Thomas: Homer...
Thomas: I do.
Homer: BANZORZ
Homer: lol
Thomas: lol
Homer: 1 day ban
Thomas: Trust me, I've seriously thought about that and other stuff a long, long time ago.
Zack: thought about what?
Homer: Banning Null
Thomas: I thought about even giving him a "Webbie" title to signify that he's a web coder, not really there for administration. :x
Homer: Thomas would get +1 Homer point for banning null for 6 hours
Thomas: I should ban him with the boards down, see how he'll get pissed off.

I've done what I can to make this a great place, and I hope that some people do appreciate what I've done; and that, in a sense, my legacy lives on in XF. Of course, I'll leave all of my hard work behind, for your enjoyment; including all of the Halo 3 Map Submission and Search functionality.

For those wondering where I'll be, I'm going to be doing some side projects, currently the most prevalent of which is something new called On Air Programmer (http://www.onairprogrammer.com). It's a place where I plan on helping others learn how to program through some new and unique methods. That will be the best place to get in contact with me from this point forward; but it is still under construction, so don't expect a masterpiece quite yet.

I'll also be putting a forum into there for general, completely non-halo related discussion. Once it's up, it will most likely be at a sub-domain on the site, probably xf.onairprogrammer.com, as a tribute to those of you who come visit me. Hope to see you there!

Once again, thank you, all of you, for a great time here. It's been 2 amazing years and I wish you all the best for the next 50+ years of your lives. Good luck and good day.

Maybe it has nothing to do with you or anybody else on the site. Maybe it's not even a problem. Maybe it is just a choice to move on.

I think you need to learn that life isn't just dealing with a series of problems.

There's nothing to resolve. I had planned to leave last December when my daughter was born, because Thomas had agreed to take over the Admin work. When the time came, he didn't show up to do anything, so I had to return, otherwise XF would have died.

Now Thomas is saying that I'm not an Administrator, and therefore I shouldn't be doing the work. Obviously, since he is the only other Admin, he should be doing it, so he must have intentions to do so. So, I no longer have a need to do it, and therefore no longer have a need to be here.

Well, what is there to say? Today is a sad day resting upon the evening of September 4th, a day which will always be remembered on XF.

Its been a great run Null. Even though you are gone, I hope this website can still advance. I would hate to blame Thomas or something else for catalyzing the drastic decision (even though it was originally your daughter) but after total realization I too would take raising a family more importantly than a website.

Don't fret, though, Null. For the most part, we all loved you and appreciated your work. I hope now that your dedication can shine through in your newer priorities, and I hope we can still get some games on Live.

You shall surely be missed. I pray this website doesn't spiral downwards into hell.

Because quote boxes look neater:

To those who say this website will plummet and that you're already quitting; I encourage you to not give up hope quite yet. Null was definitely a massive part of our framework as a website, but I, and I think most, if not all of the other staff are dedicated to keeping this site running strongly and proudly. These forums may be in the slums as of now - what with Null leaving and us downgrading servers, but these actions were inherently already necessary. You all should be glad its lasted as long as it has, as this really should've and would've happened months ago, and that this moment didn't occur when there weren't enough of us [staff].

I respect Null's decisions ,because anything that he decides, it is often very well thought-out. So instead of telling him or asking him that what he is doing is wrong, or that he should not leave, is just not very appreciative. I think instead of criticizing Null's decision, we should all just support him and wish him a good luck on whatever he is planning.

Good Luck Null!

Just because some people are moving on with their lives, does not mean the site is collapsing. Billions of people die each day, Billions of lives are given. Null has most definitely created a well educated decision, which none of us have the right to disprove in any way. We must not see our past, but continue to improve our future. When the military fights a war, they do not surrender when they get one casualty. You must continue, head up, fight for your pride, in this case your pride for XForgery. If you think the site is collapsing, then do something about it. Do just back off and say you are switching sides, not saying MonitorBuilt is a rival in anyway.

Null, you'll still be stopping by here and there, right? It just wouldn't be the same without you here. I guess it would be a little awkward, but either way, best of wishes in life. I'll stop by that website and check it out sometime.

As for the people who plan to leave because of this, well, please don't... This is the greatest community I've found around here, you know, Halo map forums, and I'd hate to lose it. I had never really gotten into any Halo map forums until I found XForgery, and if this website collapses, well. I guess I won't be seeing any of you anymore. I hardly ever come here for the maps anymore, just to hang out. I'm not even sure how to write it down...

Null was one of the reasons why I really appreciated this site so much. I even told him a few months back, that I would never have gotten to know the admins/mods on FH or other sites. This is such a heart breaking story. Really it is. I don't think anyone will take this post by me seriously, but I really am saddened by this. Null, you were a big part of my time on this site. You were always there for me when I needed help, and someone who I could just talk to. Null, even though we have never met in person, you have been a close friend of mine these last few months.

Since I basically dropped out of college, I haven't seen many friends. The one person that I constantly talked to daily was you. Nobody is really around me anymore other than a couple people who I was never close with, but I always made time to get in some games with you. You are a truly great guy, and I hope that someday I will get to meet you in person.

I also want to just say that, even though this may sound weird, everytime I look through my phone to call up someone to see how they are doing, I always scroll and stop on your name, "Null" as it is listed. Even though I never did call you, we texted a couple times.

There is always going to be the imfamous "sex box talks" in the shoutbox on this site. Never have I ever had that much fun talking to people here on XF, and to top it off, I was at work. That was a great day. To branch further off of this, me you and Time Glitch always had the best convos. I really am going to miss those days.

Null, even though I have never met you in person, you have been a big part of my last few months. Please don't take that in a creepy way. I guess I never really knew how great of a guy you were until now, since you are moving on. Being part of the staff on this site is almost a dream come true (in Halo website talk), and now that you are gone, I feel that my position here doesn't mean much anymore. For now I will remain Master Reviewer, but when Denominator gets back, I will talk to him and see what he thinks. As gay/cheesy and weird this may sound, but without you being around anymore here on XF, it feels like a hole has been put inside of me.

I really hope that the community here truly realizes how much Null cared for this site. Honestly, without him here, I never would have stuck around as long as I did. Take care Null, and it would mean a lot if you still wanted to play some games with me. You will be missed.

Wowzers in my trowzers!

I come onto XF today and this is what I see :O
I don't know who to blame for this...Karly cause she was born, Holly cause she married Null, Null's parents for having a hetrosexual child. Damn them. Damn them all!

lol

anywho bye Null. I guess I might see you on MSN? Or LIVE or something. But who do I talk to to get the theme in place now :O

Okay but guys really if you're going to leave cause Null left you couldn't be any dumber. It isn't like the site is going to crash and burn into the ground now that he is gone. And if we all leave XF and it gets lost in the dust I would have to go back to FH's Graphics and Arts section where I have pissed off plenty of people....hehe But really Boston is Null the only person that you enjoyed talking to in the shoutbox and now that he is gone you don't want to hang around XF as much and spam all your posts still? Come on. Do you really want to just sorta disregard/ditch all your other friends on here? (Like me ftw!)

btw guys stop being so over dramatic. It is retarded. And this could get interesting cause Thomas' slogan is "The Dead Administrator" Uh oh...

Frankly I was expecting a few different reactions from this. Null from the time Ive stayed here I have to say you were the embodyment of XF. Members looked up to you, and were not affraid to talk to you. Your patience was admerable at least and your effort allways at one hundred percent. As members of XF most take for granted everything you have done. Map searches, thumbnails, even the little things like title rotators; I will always appreciate the work you put into those and I hope others will too.

You were the most dedicated member to the site regardless of your position. For a site you did not create you truely put your heart and sole into this place to make our time that much more fun. Two years of constant dedication is more time than any member will put in, in four or five. I do not blame you for moving on, nor will I beg for your return. Instead I am appreciating what you have done and wish you the best of luck in your future.

Your doing exactly what you would tell anyone else to do in your shoes and I respect that. You've brought great times to this site and now I encourage you go do whatever makes you happy. Enjoy your new path through life and love every moment of it. Spend some time with Holly and Karly and stay on that path through life. I would never ask of you to give so much of yourself to a site that you have nothing left of your own.

I hope you think of us at least from time to time. Since I am intrested in programming I will be watching you as you travel allong your newly paved road. Ill try to stay in touch and tune in as often as I can. Good luck with your new venture.

So be happy don't deal with problems you have no need to let weigh you down, and enjoy your future but more importantly your preasent.

To the members or staff of xf you really should know, no amount of protest, begging, threats or outragous comments will make null re-assume his position. He is leaving for a new purpose and to spend time with his family. It's not something to joke about, it's not a decission made lightly, respect your former admins decision and wish him well, making his leave painfull is something that no one wants to see.

Goodbye null, you truly were a picture perfect admin and I mean that. You will allways be mixed.

Also, it seems that people are getting bored of video games. I know I have gotten bored of Halo, but that doesn't mean I'll quit forever. Read these words carfully: You will come to a point in your life where you cannot do everything you used to... Sometimes, new things happen, and you have to mov eon. Although none of us like to see you leave, most of us are glad that you are enjoying your life and doing what makes you happy. So Mace, this is no longer about us anymore, it's Null's life. He takes it the direction he wants to go. We should all support him.

You will neverbe forgotten and I will be on that other website often to learn how to program a bit better :). Honestly I don't know what to say except that I hope you have some fun with the extra free time and I hope you build some memories with karly and your wife.

I even plan on utilizing my new site to possibly develop some tools to help out gamers, just like you guys. Custom Game Finder maybe?

As for the people who plan to leave because of this, well, please don't... This is the greatest community I've found around here, you know, Halo map forums, and I'd hate to lose it. I had never really gotten into any Halo map forums until I found XForgery, and if this website collapses, well. I guess I won't be seeing any of you anymore. I hardly ever come here for the maps anymore, just to hang out. I'm not even sure how to write it down...

I would also like to point out that by quitting you are waisting all the hard work and time Null put into XForgery. If you support Null enough to quit because he is leaving, you should consider staying and putting his hard work to good use. We have been spoiled here at XForgery. We have what I believe to be the best community on any Halo related website. We also had an Admin that was better than we could have possibly hoped for. Now Null is gone, but throwing away the community we have here would be foolish.

Nul l- I think you should stick around. You don't have to leave XF just because you aren't Admin. It might be nice to enjoy XF when you don't have to spend all that time working on the site. Plus you will miss us too much! ;)

I don't think he plans on never being on XF again, it is like an adiction! I just think it will be nice for him to just be a member and actually have time to enjoy the site.

I get it. Everyone deserves to make their own decisions. The only thing I ask is that, if the site does begin to falter, you have to be able to step up and take charge. Other than that, I wish you luck, and I want you to know that you will be missed. From now on, members that join won't know what it was like to have the best administrator.

I agree with you about having the best admin possible. Like I said, Null was probably the main reason why I stuck around so long before it just became a home to me.

I thought about this too. At first I was like I am leaving too, but it wouldn't be right. After everything Null did, I don't want to see everything crumble down into a pile of just memories. Hopefully we can keep this place just as fun as when Null was full time admin. Also, it might be cool for Null to just be a member like all of us now, and not the one calling all the shots. He might enjoy it.

Very well put!

It's always darkest before the dawn

when your world is weary,
when all is dark,
when dreams die and fade away,
and all of life is stark,
take heart in gentle love,
for she waits in the wings,
and where she walks,
fairies dance and angels sing,
though you cannot see her,
she weaves a silken touch,
leaving footprints in the sand,
sprinkling spells and such,
lighting the dampened corridors,
the dark corners of your mind,
leaving you breathless,
bewildered by her kind,
goodness glints in her eyes,
hope is in her arms,
and all you've ever dreamed of,
rests sweetly in her charms.

It truly is darkest before dawn. And this, my friend, appears to be our greatest darkness. Should we wait for our light? No, we will strive for it. Thank you Null, for everything you have done for us, and for all that you have given every single one of us.

No matter what arguments we may have had, no matter what we thought of at the end, I have always respected you, and I always will. You have my thanks, my respect, and my friendship.

May your days be long, and your nights peaceful old friend.

As do I. Null was the heart of XF. This is truly a blow to the community. Thomas can have fun with the members he says he doesn't like, this site will probably be shut down.

Also, I will no longer be writing my stories.

Not at all. Maybe I'll visit every once in a while, but this site is going too far downhill too fast, and Thomas, the guy who has done nothing for this site for months now, is the only guy with the power to fix it. Given that he doesn't like the new members and he thinks Null's done a bad job, there's no way he'll be stopping the metaphorical downhill slide. In fact, the site will probably be shut down.

Granted I havnt posted a lot here, But I still know whats going on here... I check back here often.. Anyways on with it, NULL is the only person I have talked to who actually was doing stuff here. He also took the time to help me with a few things even though he works throughout the week at IBM and then comes home and works here. He still helped me.. Thats a true helping hand if you ask me. I don't know Thomas and im not going to talk a bunch of hooblah on anybody here. But NULL has been a very cool dude in the short amount of time that Ive been talking to him.

Null, no matter what your decision may be. Leaving XF to pursue your own 'Niche' Just know that I will still be there to check out what you've got going on. Before I make any judgments about this, I want Thomas's response.

I understand that he's just the straw that broke the camel's back (correct me if I'm wrong), so here's to Null. I never really hit it off with you, but you always seemed to be the idealistic administrator and a pretty level-headed guy. Best of wishes to you. Well I've kinda said my goodbyes on the "XF isn't dead!" thread, but I might as well say something here as well.

I remember when I came to XF, I knew maybe one or two people on the site (Yes, AZN did recruit me to the site), and that was it. And so here comes Null Paramter, the big higher up, posting on my little introduction thread with a welcome hand. That hand led to me being integrated into this community better than any community I've ever come across.

The friendly and open atmosphere here at XF will not die with Null's depature. As long as we continue in his stead, that idea will not go away. We can still provide an awesome community and a friendly environment, just as we always have. Sure, it'll be a bit different, but hey: Life happens.

On a more personal note, I am very glad I met you Null. Intelligent people on the internet are hard to find, and you brought a lot of them together here at XF. You've always been a supportive person in every encounter I've seen you in, including anything I've ever talked to you about. You're one of the good people in this world, and I hope you have nothing but the best with your family and life.

Best of luck =)

First of all people, like Holly mentioned way before, it isn't like he isn't coming back here ever again, it's just he isn't an Admin anymore. For those of you taking this so personally, you really should just turn your computer off. Go ahead. It's for the best.

Null, without a doubt you are the man. By far the one who in MY opinion, has done a great deal of good for this community. Ever since I joined and you left me that nice little welcoming message on my visitor page, that made it so contemporary cozy in there, to the creation of The Elders Drunk Halo night. It was awesome. It is awesome. It forever shall be, awesome. For those who disagrees with my opinion, go soak your heads. Preferably with sulfuric acid. Again, it's for the best.

Null is the man. There really isn't much else to say. Retired or not, he will always be the Admin that I remember on this site. Nothing against Thomas, I just interacted with Null far more. Sadly it's not going to be that way any longer...but it's his decision, and I support him 100%.

This is the *Unofficial Voice of XF saying: 'FAREWELL....for now....'

Due to a nasty virus (the digital kind) I haven't been able to visit lately, so bare with me as I have resorted to using my Wii to type this. While my interactions with Null have been few, he came across as a great person who would go out of his way to help you. While my reason for being here is because of bos, I ultimately have to give the same gratitude to Null. Cus without him bos wouldn't be here and without bos I wouldn't be here. I also would like to echo the sentiments previously stated. Jumping ship now will not only disrespect all of Null's hard work, but will make recovering from his departure that much more improbable. While this thread reads like a eulogy, Null's not dead people. While he will now be a part of the regular community, I hope that when the time comes he can return as admin if he has the ability to do so. Thanks Null, we'll miss ya.
