In THIS THREAD (http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=25440932) at Bungie Shishka commented on a question for forged maps in Matchmaking. He even gave us a good idea of the FORM that will be needed to be filled before submitting the map.

Shiska says:
Posted By: Shishka:

The playlist itself isn't happening in September (as one might imagine as it wasn't included in last Friday's info-dump).

We're hoping to be able to release the form by which users will have to vet their maps against to ensure that they'll be good for Matchmaking. Effectively what this form is is a list of "show stoppers" that, if the map matches any of these items, it will be immediately rejected. A few of these items include:

1.Using glitches (IE, glitches that allow you to ignore the map's budget)
2. Maps whose names or content are offensive (Maps with racist names, or are built into offensive images)
3. Maps that use performance-destroying features (Flame grenades, fuel rod guns, quickly-repsawning fusion cores that are being blown up constantly, for example)
4. Maps whose name or content are licensed properties (An infection map called I am Legend, or Dawn of the Dead, for example).

There are more than this. Effectively there's a section of the from that, if you can answer "Yes" to any of the questions in the section, your map is instantly rejected.

The second part is a brief questionnaire so we know what playlists the author thinks their map fits in. Note: Players who want a playlist devoted around their map are going to be disappointed. In fact, players whose maps cater to a very specific gametype may find it more difficult to get their playlist accepted than someone who makes maps for the existing playlists.

The last part is video, Halo 3 film or youtube clip or gamevee or whatever, of the map being played. At least a couple will be expected. At least two films showing full games being played, from multiple players points of view.

Screenshots will be expected as well in the Halo 3 file forum thread the map is posted too, but not required.

Like I've said before, it won't be easy, and a lot of people are going to complain, but so be it.

It does seem difficult, and unfortunately any map that used money glitch canvas will not be allowed, but oh well. Hopefully we at H3F can get some maps out there!

I wonder if that includes Interlocking or Geomerging?

Apparently it doesn't because the MLG maps all have those 2 glitches, along with the Grifball court having all kindsa interlocking on the wall. Read the thread for speculation on what is and what is not considered a glitch.

Apparently MLG didn't have to de-merge their maps before they went into MM, but they had to de-budget glitch them before it happened.

EDIT: Shishka Says:

The versions of the MLG maps in Matchmaking do not use budget exploits.

To answer some of the other questions in this thread:

We will expect people to post publish their maps to the Files forums here on Bungie.net. We're not going to explore other websites to hunt down map variants, nor are we going to "give" map selection duty to a community, like we've done with Bungie Favorites.

Certain playlists will not be open for submissions. MLG and Grifball, for example.

Geometry interlocking is fine. However, if the Z-fighting looks bad (that is, when you've got two pieces of geometry overlaying each other and are "fighting" to be the part that's drawn first), or if the interlocking just looks bad in general, your map might not be accepted.

Sculptures, jumping puzzles, and gimmicks will not be considered for Matchmaking.

The flame effect used in flame grenades and the flamethrower, as well as the fuel rod projectile are complicated effects that affect performance and can cause problems on local area network as well as LAN. Neither the flame grenade or the fuel rod gun will be allowed in Matchmaking maps, and their presence will result in immediate dismissal.

I won't have time to individually write a critique for every map submitted. Submitters should not expect a personalized post in their forum by a Bungie employee to tell them why their map isn't in matchmaking.

I can understand that they won't use budget glitched maps because it would take forever to load.

well it would case lots of lag, and for this reason some weapons aren't allowed either, i.e. no fuel rod, flame thrower, or fire grenade.

We should really look at a submission to Bungie Faves soon, not only to get a vast increase of members, but, from what I understand, we might have the chance to put maps in matchmaking too! :D

Oh, yeah. I fixed your posts because the font didn't like default. :(

No you can't. Shish said so in the thread I linked to. See below.

You have it wrong. Shishka said that they won't be leaving it up to community groups like Forgehub or H3F to select maps for playlists, like they do with Bungie Favs. Each Person will submit their maps through the form and, as far as I understand, there will be filters as to what even gets a quick look from Bungie.

These will be a few of the questions. Apparently there are more, but he hasn't given them to us yet.

1.Using glitches (IE, glitches that allow you to ignore the map's budget)
2. Maps whose names or content are offensive (Maps with racist names, or are built into offensive images)

Like I said, there are more.

Defiance, please see number 3. Flamethrowers are performance destroying because they use a complicated effect and cause lag. They're worse than even flame nades.

The flame effect used in flame grenades and the flamethrower, as well as the fuel rod projectile are complicated effects that affect performance and can cause problems on local area network as well as LAN. Neither the flame grenade or the fuel rod gun will be allowed in Matchmaking maps, and their presence will result in immediate dismissal.

don't forget to +rep for all the info! or not... lol

I'm going with "Or not."

But yeah: The Flamethrower's on Construct, and they've changed MM maps numerous times without getting rid of it. Odd that they'd say "no."

It would mean the world to me if one of my maps or screenshots were selected by Bungie.

The flamethrower is on construct as well

They are letting the B.net forums decide what maps will be selected?

Why does that thought make my stomach churn?

they're not. you submit a map through a form, and the process is:

Is the form completed? If no, throw out. If yes, move on.

Are any of the "showstopper" questions answered incorrectly? if no, move on. if yes, throw out.

Watch videos-
Is the map aesthetically pleasing? does it seem to flow well? if yes, move on. if no, throw out.

Playtest at Bungie Studios (yeah, they'll actually get together and PLAY your map!)

If they playtest it and decide it suitable, you're in. provided it makes it that far. I probably missed a step or two, so just use this as a point of reference.
