Welcome to XForgery's official "WoW," or "Weekend of Win!".

What is WoW?
Now, I'm sure you're all wondering about what this is exactly.

It is just a group of dedicated hosts, ranging from 3-4 people based on the weekend, that host customs and the like.


Who hosts WoW?
Now, this week there are 5 hosts (for now), Mista Tipsta, Miraj, AZN and Pel/MNM..

We are allowing others to be dedicated hosts as well, the only specification is that you must be on the A Forgery A or A Forgery B friends list. So, if you wish to be a dedicated host, just ask.

We'll have certain priority in who hosts, such as people on the Review Team who may need to do testing, so don't feel bad if you don't get on the list, we still <3 you.


How do I join?
The best part about this WoW is that you don't need to sign up! That's right, no need to sign up! This is because the hosts are dedicated. If you see them online, just join them.

However, you may be online when the hosts are offline; if so, just make your own game and invite others from the A Forgery A or A Forgery B friends lists. Simple as that.


What will we play?
Now, onto some basic maps we'll be playing. All the hosts will be playing different maps, and it will really vary by Host and Day/Time, but they'll try to play the Features Nominations and those from the Top 5 vote, some Community Favorites, and many others!

Now, if you wish to be a host, you might want to download those maps in preparation, which you can find at these links: Feature Top 5 (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4249); Featured Maps (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19). All right, go ahead and download them. The feature vote link is for last week, because this we are only at the Nominating (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4301) step this week.

You are also allowed to request Party Leader in order to test your maps, because that is what this is all about! So, if you need a map/gametype tested, stop in and we'll help you out.

Anything else I need to know?
All right, now to tell you what days and around what times the hosts will be playing.

Tipsta will be hosting Friday from 7:00pm - 10:00pm EST.
Miraj will be hosting Sunday. Evening and Afternoon. His GT is Im SiC NaStY.
AZN will be play-testing Helix Saturday. He'll be playing some other stuff too though.
Pel and MNM will be hosting.

Here is a full write up for Pel/MNM's party. Or at least the MNM Part of the Party. lol I put the part back in party!! lol I'm so beast thanks.

But as for me and Pel. We're hosting a party together and will most likely be switching party lead between us. If I have to leave cause my brother wants to play Pel will take over. I will be on both days and only play Halo that weekend. If you don't see me on Halo it is my brother. So if I'm on Halo just go ahead and join up for some fun. But most likely I will host from 1 PM till 12 AM except for dinner and when my bro plays. So Pel will be there to keep you satisfied. But I hope you all join me cause I got loads of customs that my friends got me to DL. They're all very fun. We will mostly be doing non competitive while I am leader but I might do some more competitive games everyone once in a while especially if someone wants to test. Pel I think is more of a competitive player than me cause I am not competitive at all so he might do my slayer stuff.

I think you guys are missing the point of WoW.

You're not supposed to schedule which games you'll be playing, the point of hosting is to have customs running the whole time. You should be playing or testing maps by whoever joins, with the maps you want to play as filler when nobody has anything else to play.

For those who have never been in my parties, my way of hosting parties is the same as matchmaking. The difference is I pick one person to select two numbers: One for the gametype and the other for the map. We then play the game based on the list I will have with me during the party session. If the party doesn't like the game displayed, they can "veto" the selection by unplugging their mics when I say and after 10 seconds we will either play the map or reverse the number selection to play the vetoed game (Example: 5,2 now becomes 2,5).

When there's 30-45 minutes left in the party session (or I get lazy and no longer feel like hosting) I will give party leader to those who need to test their maps so if you need something tested, let me know during that time.

Tim this isn't the point of WoW... this isn't TGIF. The point is to get together to play customs and have fun while offering the opportunity for people to tests their maps. If we are only giving them the last 30-45 minutes to test a map then what if people don't make it that long? What is the point of going to a WoW party if you can't test your map? As a WoW host leader is encouraged to be passed on. We are a community not a dictatorship. I suggest you try seting up so you can test a map then play a MM game like you have above, then test a map, etc... if people don't have anything to test then continue on with MM. But make sure you ask all the time.

If we hosted it like you do Tim there is no difference from TGIF. The whole point is to trust each other and pass around leader, the ONLY purpose of the host is to guarantee that there will be a party with him for you to join and have fun. Every once in a while the host can throw in his own choice of custom games, but EVERYONE else has a choice. The host is NOT the deciding factor for what games are played. Always ask if someone has something to test, and then if someone has something to play... if not then pick one yourself.

This goes for everyone posting custom game lists... these "lists" should only be your backup list. The party is run by the party, not by the host. Again this is WoW not TGIF... there's not much win if not everyone gets an equal say in what's played...

But a schedule is not what my list is. I think I also said that people should bring their own maps for testing anyways.

I've hosted parties like this since Halo 2 and I have not received a complaint yet about my style of hosting until now. If I remember correctly when I first introduced my style of hosting you enjoyed it. As a matter of fact you couldn't wait until I got back to hosting because of how organized I ran things. Now you're against it and telling me how to run my party? Hate to tell you this but that kind of sounds like a dictatorship to me.

I will agree with you on one point and it's something I might do more often because I've had a couple people asking to test their maps. So I might switch it on and off and play a game or two from my list then have someone test out their map instead of waiting the last 30-45 minutes. I can see why you consider that to be unfair because someone may only have 30 minutes to play and have a map to try out with a group. I'm not a perfect host AZN but I will take that advice. As long as my party is happy and entertained then I have no problem with it.

In the end I host parties for the same reason people join them. To relax, screw around and play a game of Halo 3 with some friends (which if I remember correctly that is the whole point of WoW). I really don't care about forgehub and how they run things. I just want to play some Halo 3 on some awesome maps and my party provides that.

WoW is WoW. You can do whatever you want. Lists are nice so people will have a good idea of what will be played. People will have a chance to suggest things, but lists are great. 79% of the time, the maps in the list get played; along with other suggestions. So I like to know 55%+ of the maps that'll be played.

Sometimes it's nice to just go freestyle. Do whatever the people want. Pass leader around. It's your wow. Do anything.
My motto is, "Just whatever!".

There is nothing wrong with you hosting parties like that - in fact, I really like the idea and intend on getting in on it if I can.

However, it is not what WoW was designed to do. WoW is simply an organized set of customs so that people know which games to join on the weekend. You go online and there are always at least 4 games/parties that are open to join, where you can play the maps you want to play and get testing done if you need it.

We're defeating the entire point of having hosts if the host is simply going to dictate which games are played, or scheduling them. It means that there is no organized time that you can get together with other XF members to test your maps.

When you're a WoW host you should not have leader the majority of the time. You should have a few maps and games that you are ready to load up if nobody has anything to test, but leader should be passed around to all in the party.
