Persia marched into battle pompously. Armed with bow and blade, coupled with the massive size of their forces, was a power to be evaded. Near to no competition expected, safe bets were made. Little did the Persians know, their intelligence was scathed when opposition was met. Their army was losing forces, and quickly. The Spartan force was not one to belittle. What they lacked in number, was made up in strength. The Spartans quickly annihilated all opposing forces, one by one. At the current rate, they would lose one Spartan per fifty Persians, decreasing consistently per Spartan death. The last few Spartans were still a formidable threat. Naturally, they were the most powerful, having survived the duration so far. Although very slowly, the Persians exposed the weakness of the Spartans by executing the Persians’ one strength: numbers. Sparta was down to one man. He drew his final breath, and expunged his closest opponent with a sword directed towards the left atrium of the heart, sitting directly blow the sternum. Reacquiring his weapon a final time, he parried a blow to his thyroid. The blood from the previous opponent splashed into his face. As he looked around, his eyesight was groggy. There was not a single enemy in the vicinity. A tear fell from his eye, and dropped onto his bloodstained spear, washing the iniquity of the Persians. He fell to his knees, crying and joyous of victory. In the far off distance, the faint sound of a horn being blown was heard. At the end of the horizon a fleet of thousands of Persians marched, accompanied by their leader, Xerxes. A meter away was a fallen comrade’s buckler. He grasped it firmly, complemented by his short sword. His determination vigorous, he prepared his ultimate endeavor for true victory.
