Yes, you heard right. Teams have been picked, and if you haven't checked, I have them right here:

Team 1: The Cheat, Sotha, boston, and Tipsta
Team 2: Silva, Miraj, Bazza, and DeathDriver

Detailed Dossier?!

I'm sure you're all wondering what that may mean. Well, now that you've gotten your teams, you now have three things to go through. The first of which is your Team Captain. The second is your Team Name. The last being the order of your maps.

Team Captain?

Yep, the team captain. This person will relay important information, team availability, and wins/losses. It will be much easier for us if we only need to contact one person per team, rather than trying to get the information from everyone.

Team Names!

Yes, that's right! You're allowed to name your team! The only thing is, the majority of your team (3 people, for those of you that are fantastic at math) must agree on the team name before it can used. Lastly, team names cannot have any profanity or be overly offensive.

Ordering of your Maps

You'll need to use strategy to put the maps in order. You'll be playing on whatever map you list at number 1 until you lose on it, so one strategy would be to put what you believe to be your best map first. Conversely, you could put your strongest map last so that when you're down to your last map you have a strong chance of staying in the tournament. Also, remember that you play on each map until you lose on it, week after week.

Deadline?

Yes, there is a deadline. The deadline is this upcoming Friday, July 10th. On Friday, we'll be releasing the first week's schedule, so make sure you read that thread. You'll have the entire weekend to prepare, so make sure you do! The first week of the tournament starts Monday, 13th.

Don't worry, the tournament won't be delayed.

We anticipated this happening and is built into the scheduling. If you are missing a player for a certain amount of time, or team schedules don't match up well for a 4v4, then matches will be played 3v3.

The big thing to remember with scheduling this is that each team will be in the tournament for at least 4 weeks (one month). Each time you win a match, you extend that by one more week.

So naturally, as I assume you're likely to win on your home maps often, we designed it so that there were little outs for scheduling, as this tournament is likely to go on for many months.

Like Null said, some matches will be played 3v3 instead of 4v4 due to legitimate scheduling conflicts.

However, if somebody simply doesn't show up, you'll have to play 3v4 or forfeit the match.

Basically, losing while on another team's home turf won't cost you anything. It's all about the home games. Every week, 4 of the 5 teams will play (the 5th receiving a bye week), one home and one away. For example:

Team 1 plays Team 2 on Team 1 Map 1

AND

Team 1 plays Team 2 on Team 2 Map 1

Team 3 plays Team 4 on Team 3 Map 1

AND

Team 3 plays Team 4 on Team 4 Map 1

You have to play 2 games each week, although that should be no harder than playing one each week (theoretically you'll play them back-to-back).

If each team wins on their home map, then they keep that map (having defended it) and live to fight on it next week. If each team loses on their home map, then that map is taken away from them and they play on Map 2 next week.

Let's say that Teams 1 and 2 successfully defended their map, and Teams 3 and 4 both lost on their map.

In week 2, the games would be:

Team 1 plays Team 3 on Team 1 Map 1

You then go on and on round-robin style until 4 of the 5 teams are eliminated. The last team standing wins the tournament.

You can potentially never play 3 of your maps. Whichever map you put first you play week after week until you lose it. This also means you never know exactly which opposition map you will play on next week, because if they defend this week they'll play that one, but if they lose this week they'll play their next map in order. This is why there are tactics to ordering your maps.

It's all about defending your maps. As long as you win on your home map, you can never lose the tournament. But don't think the away game isn't important, because that's how you eliminate other teams.
