In the shoutbox in order to see the newest messages I have to refresh the page. Does anyone else have this problem? And is it meant to be that way?

You shouldn't have to refresh the page to see the new messages. Did you click where it told you to in order to unidle yourself in the Shoutbox? If you are idle, then new messages won't appear. If you aren't idle (you shouted something or you clicked where it told you to in order to unidle yourself), it automatically refreshes itself.

Yeah, most of the time I am using the shout box and not idle so I don't know. It may be a problem with my computer.

Out of curiousity, press CTRL + ALT + DEL. Then click on the processes tab. Click on the Mem Usage header twice. List the first 5 processes, just put it down like this:

[Image Name] [CPU] [Mem Usage]

Afterwards, at the bottom of the window you'll see "CPU Usage: __%". What number is it? Just out of curiousity...

I just want to see if something is bogging down his computer. If there is something bogging down his computer and it's bad enough, it could probably interfere with other processes, so it could mess with iexplore.exe and cause the Shoutbox to not refresh on it's own.

Like super sexy pr0n?

Anyway, this happens to me too. Usually I am idle or my account had signed out if I leave the computer alone for long enough.

Ok, here we go:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v329/sheepman56/AAAATutthing2copy.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v329/sheepman56/AAAATutthing3copy.jpg

So basically, here's what mine would look like:

[iexplore.exe] [00] [442,228 K]
[System] [00] [68,048 K]
[Photoshop.exe] [00] [57,652 K]
[iexplore.exe] [02] [52,036 K]
[svchost.exe] [00] [31,908 K]

CPU Usage: 5%

Now, the CPU part and the CPU Usage will most likely be constantly changing, so just use the highest number you see. Understand? I just want to see if there is some process that could be bogging your computer down. It could be anything from too many internet windows open at once, spyware, viruses, some application, or I could be completely wrong. If I'm right though, I could probably help out.

Or I could be looking too far into things, where this could just be a common problem. I tend to do that. Anyways, let me know, just incase.

Oh yeah....that too.

And if he has a virus that slowing his computer down enough to not refresh the shoutbox I think he has bigger things to worry about than reading new shouts.

yeah. I use stopsign antvirus and registryfix to clean my computer and fix errors. They work pretty well, if you can, you should buy them.
