YouTube - HALO 3 : Lord Mongoose's Goosetage "MUST SEE"
Dear XF Members;
I would like to re-introduce my favorite aspect of BTB-

THE MONGOOSE
Now, some of you may have seen "L0RD M0NG00SE"'s Goosetage (If you haven't watch it in this thread). I for one, love this dynamic duo. They have completely reinvented the mongoose, and if used right, can be deadlier than a scorpion. Yes, we all know they are really good at it. BUT- they never posted a guide on how to do it.
I, myself, and a few others that I've taught over XBL and Local games, have adapted this skill, and am happy to teach others.
Which brings me to the main point of this thread.
How To 'Goose like the "L0RD"
There are a few things you'll need to know:
-Maps compatible
-Where to jump
-Best weapons to use
-Positioning of your shots
-Tactics
Maps compatible
(Listed in best to worst)
-Valhalla (Lots of hills and jumps, bears all good goose weapons)
Difficulty for Valhalla- 2 (People don't see mongeese as a big threat here)
-Isolation (Brute shot right in base, good jumps)
Difficulty for Isolation- 3 (Ghosts can put bumps in your path to righteousness)
-Standoff (Brute shot close to base, good jumps)
Difficulty for Standoff- 3 (Not much to kill you)
-Standoff Heavy (Same thing as Standoff, but a bit more to kill you)
Difficulty for S.Heavy- 4 (Still not much to kill you)
-High Ground (Bears good weapons, lots of splatters)
Difficulty for HG- 4 (Hard to get jumps right every time)
-Valhalla Heavy (Always a goose to use, lots 'o weapons, always a challenge waiting)
Difficulty for V. Heavy- 4 (Big vehicles>Inexperienced Gooser)
-Avalanche Heavy (Lots of weapons at your disposal, no good jumps)
Difficulty for A. Heavy- 5 (Ever played cat&mouse? Its like that)
-Sandtrap (Lots of space, some jumps, weapons)
Difficulty for Sandtrap- 6 (Choppers&Elephant turrets=sadfaic)
-Avalanche (Most weapons present)
Difficulty for Avalanche- 7 (Like AH, with less weapons)
-Santrap Heavy (Same as default, but more things to kill you)
Difficulty for S. Heavy- 8 (^Read above^)
-Last Resort (Don't let the L0RD fool you, its not nearly as easy)
Difficulty for LR- 8 (Its a "create your own jump" map)
Thats it. Other maps, you can try, but you most likely won't succeed
Where to jump
This one's not too hard;
Inexperienced goosers- Try going for obvious jumps, with obvious destinations
Moderate goosers- Get a little creative. Use hills that can get you flying
Experienced goosers- Go for a challenge, use flat ground and slight inclines to your advantage
L0RDs- Use everything possible to shoot
Best Weapons
Brute Shot- A gooser's best friend, used for jumps, splatters, and the occasional kill
Spartan Laser- Usually the second choice, used usually while in the air for a surprise attack on the landlubbers :P
Missile Pod- WHAT!? Stand on top of the goose and make a tank (Careful driving)
Sniper- High-speed noscoping, don't recommend it for non-noscopers
Rockets- Use for the obvious, just don't use it like a brute shot too often
Grenades of any kind- Use 'em like normal, but at high speeds
Positioning your shots
::Off Jumps::
When going off of a jump, you can go for distance or height, these use two different positions.
Distance- You wanna be looking down at the back of the Goose. How early you shoot and how many shots (two max) determines the rest.
Height- Look down at the driver and shoot one or two shots depending on how high you want. How early you shoot on the jump will determine how much distance you'll get.
Both- Shoot down and to the side. This technique is most effective
::Flat Ground::
Flat ground can be your worst enemy or best friend; you can go for boost splatters, or a boost upwards.
Splatters/Speed- Looking down at the back of your goose, shoot once.
Upwards- This can be tough, you may want a higher sensitivity. Shoot like you would for a splatter, then quick turn around and shoot the driver. Its like ollieing on a skateboard. You can reverse the steps for more distance.
::Grenade Jumps::
A well-placed grenade + a bruteshot shot at the same time can boost you as long as two bruteshot shots can more accurately.
Tactics
When Goosing, I use many tactics.
::High-Speed Kill::
-Use anything you want, and kill someone while you zoom past them
::Simple Jump&Shoot::
-For this one, you'll want a brute shot and maybe another ranged weapon. come up on a jump, shoot for height, and take out someone on the ground.
::Complex Jump&Shoot::
-Same as the simple, but for vehicles. You'll want a Splazer or Rockets (Lead on alot for Rockets).
::Simple Splatter::
-You only need a brute shot. Shoot for speed on flat ground towards a player. Simple as that.
::Complex Splatter::
-You'll need a brute shot, and a bit of luck. Come off of a jump leading to a group of people, shoot for distance (Height is harder to do this with) And hope you get one!
::COMBO::
Combine any of these to make a great multikill :)
Well, thats it. I hope you try some of the things I've taught you. If you have any questions, PM me, and I'll et back to you ASAP. I'm always up for a good BTB Game.
