No more lo-res versions on other web sites, click inside to see the hi-res versions of the recent G4 and Edge awards speeches that have made their way around the Internet.
In the last week, two small videos slipped out into the ether. By now, you've presumably seen small versions of these videos and today we're making them available here on Bungie.net. The videos were created as acceptances for two awards we were unable to be on-hand to receive. The reasons why we couldn't be on-hand are certainly alluded to these flicks. Enjoy!

Apparently at the end it shows what could be a full map editor and also the ability to place enemies on existing maps
AWESOME!!

I agree that the terrain editor may be a possibility, but in the end, I highly doubt it. Sadly, it is probably for Halo 3 PC. As others have pointed out elsewhere, that is pretty close to the interface for the terrain editor in Halo 2 PC. Also, how would they allow user created maps to be displayed in the map list? And even harder still, you probably couldn't forge on user created maps because Bungie restricts the amount of items you can use on each map for a reason, which wouldn't be possible on the infinite number of maps users would create.
The ability to place enemies on MP Maps was just them showing off, otherwise they wouldn't have had actual characters as well (i.e. Cortana et al).

Honestly, I'm not seeing anything here. Nothing to get excited for, anyways..
Some terrain at the end that looks sandtrap-esque, probably a new map that is far, far off in the distance.
and
Some Single-player characters that were only there as props, which only Bungie can do via dev-kits.
Call me close-minded, but I 100% doubt a terrain editor or character placement tool in Halo 3 360, maybe in PC version, but not 360. Even having a terrain editor/character placement tool in the PC version wouldn't be all that exciting for me because my computer sucks too hard to play any PC games.

I'm 99% sure that its not possible to add a terrain editor into Halo 3, but it might be possible to add enemies... My best guess is that the map shown in the video is either a new map, or something made exclusively for that video.

Beginning vs. now = huge difference.
Didn't Bungie also say that online co-op would be near impossible and they'd probably not be able to do it in Halo 3? mhm.;)

I dont think its a terrain builder. If you look at the end of the video you see he has a corner of a room already there it'll probably be peices of map that we decide of it goes together and one room could end up like Marty's room in the GPhoria video. If Halo 3 does come for PC I cant and will not get it lol.

... I never said one way vs. another on the terrain builder.
Bungie won't definitively state that they won't do something unless they can't they'll leave false truths, stretched truths, and other random true stuff that they modify to make it hide something that they're doing.

now wait a second...
i just got this silly idea...
what if instead of releasing a new halo PC or game.. that they just made a seperate disc entitled "Halo 3 Map Creator" or something like that.. and from here you could design and test your map. Once finished. you could then save the file and import it onto you halo 3 game...
halo 3 already has imports and exports to that material.. note the map packs and stuff..
just a thought. a possible one :)

interesting. But i would assume that instead of makin it a disc they'd make it available for like 1k micro$oft points at the marketplace.

they said it would be hard and that it almost didn't make it
but I think that if they said it was never going to PC then it won't but sometimes they lie:mad:

There will be no insertion of Campaign objects, enemies or friendlies via the Forge as folks have speculated. There will be no “bots” added to the game. The “set” on Rat’s Nest was designed to appear like a backlot of a film set, a holding area, not some depiction of a brand-new feature that implements Campaign objects into multiplayer. Do consider this issue a closed one. Calm yourselves down, pump the brakes, and take a breath.
We’ve of course heard the gums flapping on the Internet that Bungie is making more Halo stuff. We’ve never said that we’re finished with Halo 3; in the Edge acceptance video, we confirmed that the ride isn’t over. Ever since our independence last year and taking control of our destiny, we've been pretty open about the fact that we have three distinct projects underway within Bungie and they aren't all Halo related

they never said we wouldn't be getting a terrain editor though :)
