Female Characters In Games

Alright, so with lots of customization, comes the ability to choose genders (mostly). Just wondering, but how many of you play as a female in video games? I'm assuming that 95% or more members on XForgery are all male, so that shouldn't factor too much into the results. Anyways, yeah, if you can choose between a guy or a girl, who do you choose to play as?

I personally always choose the female (except for Halo haha), because a lot of times it is so funny to hear a guys reaction when losing to a female, and if they don't know me and know I'm a dude, then it only makes them more angry. I'm not saying I own everyone when I play online, but for the most part I have good games and it's funny to hear guys get so defensive when a girl beats them in games. Your thoughts?

BTW, I play as Zoey ALL the time in Left 4 Dead, the hot chick in UT3, a female Shepard in Mass Effect, etc...

You should have a both option, I like to create variety in all of my characters (I tend to make a lot lol)

Starting with Crystal version on the GameBoy Color, I've always gone with my actual gender, male (as if that wasn't obvious). I don't really care if you decide to make your character female, while yourself are a male. It makes no difference to me. I play the game to have fun, if you're a male character, I'm going to aim for your head; if you're a female character, I'm going to aim for your head.

I will say I see the worst of this on Playstation Home. I have never seen such lonely people before.... :thumbdown:

Yeah I see what you mean. I don't know, I think I also choose a female a lot over a male because there seems to be a lot of discrimination against chicks on XBL, so like I said, if I were a chick and beat sombody in video games it would get their panties all in a bunch haha.

This is ironic. I just beat fable 2 last night. I played as a girl. She was pretty hot at the beginning but now she is fat and has scars. Don't forget stupid blue markings from upgrading my Will. Also in halo I'm a girl. When playing with someone it's so funny to here them say "Is your person a girl!?" when they here the scream.

I Tend To Play As A Guy, Since Mostly There Better Like In Fable 2 If You Have A Guy With Max Physique And A Girl With Max Physique The Guy Looks better By A Long Shot.

Also I Like to Play As A Guy because thats my gender and when i play games i like to act like myself and look similar.

I always play a female in MMOs. It doesnt help that nearly every MMO makes guys look like shit, and the girls look great. When more modern MMOs come out that actually have custom face constructors and such, I'll probably opt for a male, and make him look like me =).

Then again...Female Mages...OooOOoOOoo...

As for the first person shooter genre, I don't prefer male or female. I'll always go with the ever-lucrative third option: Sexless. Whether it's the robots, or the faceless evil soldiers, or the aliens, I will always choose the most alien/robot-esque like character I can find.

I guess it's the Halo in me.

It's not so much an actual like "Oh man that's hot" reaction, it's more of an aesthetic thing. I firmly believe that developers put more time into making things look better on females than males, and I would bet any amount of money that more work gets done on female models than male.

It's simply a matter of quality.

I think it would be better if there were more female enemies/bosses. Take Quake IV for example, you only have the Iron Maiden, which is pretty weak, and is only near the end, which is atad retarded

I only dabble in estrogen fueled, premenstrual princess rage for fighting games. It seems to be the one game genre that consistently deals out pros v cons for choosing a gender (weaker, takes more damage, but much faster). DOA seems to be the one game where chicks totally own the roster, not just in numbers but in skill.

Well to tell the truth i play as a guy and i think its a good because some women find it horable but you shouldent make it like the women are smaller which would change the whole gameplay like rainbow six vegas 2 it is a worst idea but if it was only like the voice like in halo 3 it helps both sides.

No, I'm not a girl. If you know what an MMORPG is, you should know exactly what I meant when I said that sentence. Its quite a usual thing in MMO's, I just do it to make money.
