Don't show the creators name

On the front page and if possible in the forums, We should take away the part where it says the map is created by. The only way to find out would be to click and view the map. (Like the front page on forgehub how it just has the map name)

Reason for this is because members tend to look at maps of members that they know and sometimes tend to ignore the members that they have never heard of before (the newer people).

Example. I'll use Null as an example because he is the most known person :). Say Null and I make the exact same map and post it at the exact same time with the exact same name. Who will get their map looked at more. Well Null of course, because he is much more known than me.

It's definitely not a bad idea, and it is easily done. But, I think that the only place we would actually do it would be the frontpage.

To remove the username from the forums is impractical, personally, especially because sometimes you are actually looking for a map from a particular person.

Yep, I can basically do anything I want. It would involve changing the basic vBulletin coding, but I know right where it is and it's a simple change.

I find that the map thumbnail is what is going to draw in the most amount of views/comments, and it doesn't really matter who created the map. Maybe so over at ForgeHub, but not here; at least for the time being.

They do this over at forgehub. The only thing you see is the map name.

I meant within the actual topic, and not on the portal/latest 5 maps. At any rate, due to the general influx of ~1 map per day, this would be pretty unnecessary atm, I think. People generally see all the maps that come in.

To be honest, I really like this idea. He has a pretty good point because anything Null hashes out there I WILL look at lol (mainly because you just make fun stuff) but yeah I agree, we should take it off...although I don't mind if it stays the way it is.

It is a great idea and anyone who has ideas to give more equality to map recognition please give throw them out there... we want to give everyone the chance to have their map viewed and played. New guys don't get much attention and sometimes the attention they do get is bad... we want to be constructive and build up the community as opposed to tearing it down...

What skin do you use because on old school, it just has the map name in the recent maps. Theres 5 map names and thats it.

Well, you would keep it in the actual topic so you would know who made it if you clicked on it. (I think thats what you were saying, IDK), but you clicking on it in the first place would not be because of the creators name.

New members don't know about the Map Search, or how to use it, making our forums inaccessible.
Sometimes you don't know the exact name of the user, and you just need to browse the forums to try and remember it.

I would think a FAQ or something to guide the new users to the appropriate thread would solve the problem, but that's just me.

I wish that were true, but you have no idea how many questions I get regarding items that are in the FAQs or other threads.

I think this is a good idea because even myself would look at the names and see who would make better maps and check there maps out. However if they had a really good thumbnail i would go by that. (i know im wierd)
