VIP is a very versatile gametype, as we all know. I've found that Halo actual has an auto-rotation of VIPs, making it even more helpful. For example, I have a game where one person, the VIP is playing the minigame, and everyone else must be held somewhere away from the playing area.
-Place the VIP team starting points where you want them, and set them all to Defender.
-Place each other teams starting points where you need them.
-Now, so every team has a chance to be VIP, set the # of rounds = # of teams. This will only work with single-VIP
-Start the game, and you'll notice that Halo 3 automatically rotates what team has a VIP, and that it will not repeat if you set the # of rounds correctly.
All there is to it. This technique got me through 2 minigames, and I'm sure it can help with many others.
