ive just been wondering on XF we have photo albums, friends but what we dont have is music how about on your profile page so when someone clicked onto your profile page the music would start and it would help others to see what kind of person you are
I agree. It provides another way to express yourself. It also add personality to your page and what not. I don't know if it would take up too much room on the servers though. I know we could probably easily do it now, but as we grow I don't know if we would be able to keep it.

The old myspace joke goes as follows:
"YOU WILL ABSOLUTLEY LOVE THE FIRST 15 SECONDS OF THIS DEATH METAL SONG"
As long as there was no auto-play on any of this stuff, I'd be perfectly fine with that. But no going to profiles just to hear a massive blat of music for about 10 seconds before I find the "off" button.

yeah me too i dont want auto-play but if it was easy too notice so that they could see the music but if it's down the bottom where no one can see it theres no point in it being there.

I think this would be a good idea and the auto-play could be optional so if you didnt want it then hell dont have it! :D

all we need is a lot more people agreeing

I think the music idea would be cool... just one song... however there would have to be a VB mod for it or we ain't gettin anything...
And don't go asking for profile customization, that was removed for a reason... vibrant colors get annnoying when you visit a page like that... but music without autoplay would be really cool..

There is a vb mod for a page music player and you can take off autoplay. Also you can have music for your profile also but that's your guy's choice.

I don't see why we shouldn't especially when auto-play can be optional. We did sort out the bandwidth issue thanks to AZN correct?
GodlyPerfection
04-09-2009, 04:38 PM
Yes the bandwidth should not be an issue at all thanks to my $100/month that is going to our dedicated server.. :P it's cuz I love you guys... hopefully Null sees this soon... I would love music on here...

Oh sounds cool. And for Auto play you could have it as one of the settings so that you can change it between auto playing users songs when you enter there profile or not autoplaying

Except that we still have to conserve bandwidth for expansion. If we max it out with this many people, what happens when we finally hit b.net front page? :(
I'll look into this.
Found a playlist example here (http://www.anime-dreamz.com/forum/member.php?u=1). However, the way to install this is really stupid (requires all users to enter code), so I'm looking elsewhere.

[Solved]
If you go here (http://xforgery.com/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile), you can enter in a Playlist ID from Playlist.com (http://www.playlist.com). There are more detailed instructions on the User CP page linked above.
You can check out my profile (http://xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=2) to see what it looks like. The playlist sits in the right-hand column.
I'll leave this thread open a bit longer so you can all praise me. ;)

There's nothing there..??
I signed up and added a song to my playlist, found the code and everything. There's just nothing new on my profile, or on any other profile.
(I use FireFox and I cleared my cache)

I'm using Firefox, and it is showing up on your profile for me.
One song: "Noxid - Endless Dream".
Not sure what to tell you besides the fact that you have it setup correctly.

Well, it's there in IE, but I don't want to use IE...
Do you think signing in and out would help?
Edit: Okay, the playlist feature only works when I'm logged out...

I figured it out! There was stupid code in the mod I used to restrict it to certain usergroups, it should work for everybody now!

No, there was a list of acceptable usergroups. Naturally, most forums don't have a Senior Members group, so it wasn't in the list.
