I was on Youtube recently looking at some Halo 2 mods and I was thinking, why haven't they brought some good ones to Halo 3. I mean, I want to fire trains out of my pistols too!

People do it, but halo is still really fun with all the possibilities, especially with sandbox. Once we are all tired of all the stuff, and think it is all really basic then we will mod the trucks out of it.

There are some pretty crazy ones for Halo 2. Shooting Nukes. Spreadshot Stickies.
People concentrate on Modding Maps though, cause of Forge its easier.

There are some decent ones for Halo 3. I've seen Mongooses and Warthogs shooting lasers, Ghosts flying, stuff like that. The problem is, due to the file types, you need a devkit to make anything half-decent. Also, Xbox's are very very simple to mod. Plus, they're cheap, compared to a 60. No one wants to spend their time modding their expensive Xbox 360, due to the fact that offline modding is boring and no one would be dumb enough to try modding online on a tightly moderated Xbox 360.
I don't know, there's still some hardcore modders over at se7ensins.com (where I used to go for my Halo 2 mods), but you won't find anything good.

Ya I noticed this too and it sucks. My friend has a Mod List of all the mods on his website for his group which you have probably seen in the Group Spotlight. I think it is there now on Bunige but in his forums look for a topic (Probably pinned) called The Mod list. I believe he has over 800 mods and not all of them are just maps and screenshots. Although I haven't looked at it in a while....

A lot of people who modded got console banned when they hosted it on their fielshare, so there's less people on live with mods.... that and the 360 isn't a reliable console, so when it RRoD's, you're out of a ton of cash because you broke the warranty to mod.

Maybe that's why they're so unreliable... (jk)
I've never modded or have used any mods besides for two games I own on the PC; Oblivion and Fallout 3.

I've only ever used one mod in Halo and two mods ever.
The mod in Halo was where the host could see the water in places. Nothing special.
The other mod, is a Modded Slightly Garry's Mod =D (Don't ask...)

I love mods in halo 3. My friend showed me a site (which i lost) with playable custom game modding. They can add a real new depth to gamepay and are a lot of fun.

Modded maps can be fun but the majority that I have seen have major lag or all that's different are flags, birds, clones and skulls in slayer which really don't add a whole lot to the game. I admit though I have played a few fun ones but for the most part it really isn't the same as it was for Halo 2

Exactly! I get bored of shooting Gauss Turrets not attached to anything! I'm saying make some cool ones like shooting Grenades out of your gun.

Well if someone comes up with something good I'd like to hear about it but for now I'll guess I will just stick to the custom gametypes

Why mod a game when the gameplay is fine already. In my opinion mods are the biggest waste of time. They have no need. Who cares about flying ghosts or Mongooses shooting lasers. The vehicles were not intended to do it so why should they. Mods just ruin a game in my opinion they just have no use to me as i find them extremely boring but that's my opinion.

I can make a ghost fly without mods!

lol Psycho... anyways... Have you guys seen the graph paper map on sandbox? They just took the grid and put it everyhwere and facing every which way... kinda pointless but cool to look at...

People mod because they get bored or they need more resources. I think modding became such a big thing in Halo 2 because it had been out for so long they had become tired of the same old. And damnit who doesn't want some flying warthogs!

Another thing about modded maps I was just thinking about is why do people mod maps that have no point? Like throw some cloned spartans here a few trees there. Why not use the little mongoose/warthog pads to make a sweet racetrack? Because I know some people have tried but there track still sucks. My friend is working on a Standoff race track where he cloned the lights on the satellites to show boundarys for his track instead of having to use objects. These guide you along but are pron to cheating but if you're playing with not complete dicks it should be fun :D

That sounds sweet. Is it done yet?

You should try modding yourself, it only costs $40 to startup. You can make some pretty awesome maps when you get good at it.

Nahhh. Already broke one Xbox. Maybe when the next console is released.

rofl my friend hasn't been working on his modded map as much. At the moment he is looking into buying a Dev Kit cause this kid is a rich ass SOB. He plans on buying a really high quality Dev Kit and those can cost up to $4000! He wants to be able to do those sweet mods where you can like shoot rockets from your AR. And I am going to try persuade him to get back to work on that map but me and him have been playing Team Snipers and Forging on Sandbox alot.

Rockets out of assault rifles?
MUCH better than a stupid race track.

Ya well once he gets back from his relatives he wants to order his dev kit. He has already picked it out. It is somewhere around $3700 with taxes. I've been talking to him on MSN but his parents want to wait until they get back home to order it

Yes! That's sweet. I love modded maps just because they combine the possibilities of Forge with Custom Gametypes. I might get on later and try and find some new mods.

Ya but modded maps are only so fun for so long. My friend modded a new Gametype for his map. Neutral CTF where the flag is purple(ish).
Its really really fun!

That sounds fun. if I could mod I would probably just make gametypes.

most of the time, the mods that i have found are not too good, like this one isolation one, it just has a lot of crap and stuff.
the Flamethrower gametype mod is nice tho
