View Full Version : Gametype Testing KOTH variant: Frontlines (thinking of better name)

Hey guys, I'm working on this King of the Hill variant, and I've only been able to test it with 1 other person, so if any of you would like to help, post your GT and I'll be sure to add you to my friends list and we can try it out tonight!

Here is the info:

Score to win: 150
Team King of the Hill: Enabled
Team Scoring: Minimum score
On hill points: 0
Uncontested control points: 2
Off hill points: 0
Kill points: 3
Hill Movement: 1 minute
Hill Movement Order: Random
On hill traits: All default
Primary weapon: Assault Rifle
Secondary Weapon: None
Weapons on map: Default
Grenades on Map: Default
Vehicle set: Default
Indestructible Vehicles: Disabled
Custom Powerup Traits:
Duration: 30 seconds
Damage resistance: 110%
Sheild Multiplier: Normal Shields
Shield Recharge Rate: 90%
Shield Vampirism: Unchanged
Immune to headshots: Unchanged
Forced color: None
Number Of rounds: 1
Time Limit: no limit
Respawn live: 10


That is a lot to read, so I bolded everything of interest.

Most of it is all a test to see how it works out, including the 10 lives and the Team Minimum Score for example.

If you'd like to help, like I said earlier, post your GT IF you can get on tonight.

If you have suggestions for the gametype, Post them, There is always room for improvement.

Uhm. I'm not sure if you know or not but Nevz has created something almost identical to this except with slightly less lives and more health. Actually, it has the same exact name. Very peculiar, good luck on it though. Altering a gametype isn't necesarrily frowned upon in my book but it just shows that less thought was put into it. Good luck on it man!

I don't think he knows about your guys' gametype... so he's just trying to make a unique custom and not just altering the gametype... :P

I'm not sure how this would play... It looks heavily team based and seems like alot of long duration combat... could be fun.. like a KOTH of Conquest...

Nah, not at all. I just thought you guys thought along the same lines of what your goal was to reach. In no way am I trying to say "MAP THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEF!" or anything. I think it sounds really cool. It's still different, go with it.

Name revision is a must though. Frontlines doesn't sound completely relevant anyways, sorry Nevz. xD

Frontlines just popped into my head, so I am definitely coming up with a new Idea...

It does have the same name, same gametype, limited lives, but the similarities stop there. It is a coincidence, but probably nothing more than that. My hill never moves, and it is used as a boundary - if you step out, you're one-shot. Mine's an armory-based game with teleporters into the hill. If yours was that similar, then I'd be worried. :D But it's all good, you clearly didn't try to copy anything.

My one worry is that I'm not a big fan of minimum-score games, because some times one player just cannot match up with the enemies, and what if enemies all get a higher score than a player and he runs out of lives? The game is already won. I don't know, but you will probably have to tweak it a bit along the way.

Yes, Like I stated above, That part is only a test to see how it works. I was iffy on it at first as well.
