http://imgur.com/NAa1m.jpgIt all comes down to this! This is the final vote for the November Forgery Challenge, "Road Rage". For this challenge, we asked you all to create and submit any maps that supported the Race, Rocket Race, or Rally game variants. Basically, anything with a driving theme. We received a total of 9 submissions and our staff and supporters narrowed them down to a top 5 for all of you to chose from. Remember, the winning map will receive:
Your map featured in the next monthly Update here at Xforgery
You will receive the contest winner award (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/awards.php?do=viewaward&award_id=10)
The winners will receive a month of Supporter (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/memberlist.php?usergroupid=17) status
500 XF Points
So be sure to choose wisely! Here are the maps:

Voting Rules:
You need to have been a member before the vote was started.
You need to have at least 2 posts on XF from before the vote was started.
This is a very small measure against people simply recruiting their friends to join XF only to vote for their map.
And remember, you can't see the results of the poll until you actually vote, so don't give away to everybody else what is going on. You can say who is in the lead and things like that, just don't say "WHA! THIS MAP IS BEHIND THE LEADER BY 2 VOTES! OMG OMG OMG VOTE FOR IT!". Failure to follow these simple rules will disqualify your vote (a.k.a we remove it).
With that said, voting will end: Tuesday, December 14, 12:00 AM PST. Good luck to the top 5.

i think to be nominated alone would be very cool. I played hex and LOVED it lol. Definitely the most innovative race i have seen so far in reach. Great job to everyone who entered

Between Hex and Retricept for me.
I think I need to get an actual game on Hex because I'm sure it's about 100 times more fun with more people than racing around on it by yourself in forge.
I'll vote later.

Each Supporter can vote for the ones they want in the vote. Each will have their own reasons for the way they voted.

The list is posted in our special featured-and-staff-only forum, and each person has the opportunity to select five different maps to include in the final vote. After one week, these selections are tallied, and the maps that have been chosen for inclusion the most are the ones that wind up on the page here.
Typically.

Also, let me add that you can spend your XF points on Supporter. Literally anybody on this site could vote which maps show up here if they wanted.
I don't really like the way you said "special featured-and-staff-only forum", because I wouldn't consider it that.

Yeah, a mildly bad choice of words, thanks for the clarification.

I'd like to point out that the last voting thread wasn't in the staff forum. I'm not sure if this was a glitch, but I could see and access the thread.

It's never in the Staff forum, it's in the Supporter Forum. And then, once the vote is done, it got moved to the Forgery Challenge Archive, so it is visible to everyone.

...yeah, when I said "feature-and-staff-only forum" I actually meant "supporter-and-staff-only forum." Pretty big difference there and I messed up.

Hex may not be the most creative, but it is definitely a map that I would play over and over again with friends. Hex gets my vote.

Double Rainbow all the Way!
No! No offense Rifte, but that map shouldn't even have gotten featured. Pretty much everyone sees your name and is like "NOMINATE! VOTE VOTE VOTE!" Double Rainbow is just mongeese riding down a hill through teleporters, it's fun but it was done in like an hour. There are way better maps in this contest that actually took more then a day.

While I will agree that maps shouldn't be voted for due to the creator, I also believe that they shouldn't be voted against due to the creator or the time put into the map. If the map is fun, I don't see the problem.

Time doesn't equal fun. What you'll tend to notice a lot at XF is that we vote for Fun games, rather than ones that people necessarily put a lot of work into. That's not to say that some games that take a long time to make aren't fun, but Time and Complexity definitely do not equate to Fun Level.
Take OVERBOARD! for instance. Probably the simplest, stupidest game you'll ever play (on the surface). Throughout XF's existence, it has won Two Features (One in H3 (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=2&tab=myawards#aw_issue21), one in Reach (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/member.php?u=2&tab=myawards#aw_issue936)), been XFOG (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=77)'d, been the topic of a Forgery Challenge (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3575), Mini-Competition and much, much more.
How long did the gametype take to make? A matter of a couple hours. How long does it take to make a map to support the gametype? Only a couple of minutes. And yet, the game lives on.
It isn't about time, complexity or anything of the sort. It's about how damn fun it is to go flipping through the air, blow shit up and kill your friends in interesting ways.

Very true, I guess I might have been a little negative. Also OVERBOARD! is a really simple gametype, yet it is quite famous here. But also remember that it was an early gametype, and the Reach one was featured because it was a classic H3 gametype loved here. Also I guess I was thinking how Rifte has 9 features, where better forgers have gotten a few or one feature[s]. Sorry.
P.S. 100th post yay!

Sorry to burst your little bubble, but Rifte is one of the best forgers out there. Maybe with the exception of GunnerGrunt and 3llement he may be one of the best. Your map never got featured, do yo know why? Because it isn't innovative, or fun to play. Who cares if it is a great remake, or if it has a good weapon list? A map being featured here, at XForgery, has to be a fun map. Rifte has 9 features because the maps he makes are good. Look at his features. Have you played them all? They are all ingenious and inquisitive, not to mention fun, all in their own ways.
What do you mean by better forgers? People who make competitive maps? People who spend 40 hours to make a map look nice while completely ignoring the part about it being enjoyable? Those people aren't better forgers. They are better copycats. To get featured you need to be an artists, a pioneer, someone who starts something. Not someone who recreates something already made.

Features aren't voted on by If they were famous in Halo 3 or if they're classics. Features are voted on based on if people enjoy them. If OVERBOARD would have been broken and not fun to play then it would not have been featured.
