Season 1, Episode 4
Ice Cold
Welcome to the XFFF Reach Episode 4! This event will last from December 6th to December 12th.
You guys asked for it, and here it is! XFFF is back in full force for Reach. Not only that, but thanks to the customization found in firefight, each episode is going to have a different theme and challenge. The fourth episode of the debut season for XFFF Reach will be focusing in on your ability to overcome the freezing conditions with your Armor Lock, there will be no shortage of practice around here.
What is XFFF?
XFFF (known in the old days as XForgery Firefight Fridays) is an event that will test you or your team's endurance on how long you can survive the covenant in certain scenarios, while racking up as many points as possible. In XFFF: Reach, EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE OF WINNING SOMETHING! Even if you can't walk away with the highest score on the highest difficulty, you can still win some XF points by completing challenges, or simply playing and submitting your best score.
How do I sign up for XFFF?
Good news everyone! There is NO REGISTRATION AT ALL! To participate in XFFF, you only need to be a member of XForgery along with having a valid gamertag. If you have those two, you're covered.
If you've been visiting this site as a guest for a while and been thinking about becoming a member to participate in this event, now is a good time to register. :)
Protip: You can register here: http://www.xforgery.com/forum/register.php
So, what is the featured map this week?
Each episode will feature one of the eight maps bestowed upon us by Bungie! The featured map will not only feature that episodes particular theme, but also contain challenges that can give you a chance of winning a firefighter medal.
This episodes featured map is:
http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/2781/glacier.png
Featured Map: Glacier
Featured Gametype: Firefight
Glacier is an outdoor based map adapted from the Campaign featuring many long lines of sight and the fiercest vehicles the Covenant can throw at you. Short on time and short on ammo, you will find yourself racing the clock while dropping the dead like dominoes.
Whats this about winning XF points for just playing?
Glad you asked. If a player or their team can not get the highest score, they can still walk away with XF points if they submit their best performance. Depending on what difficulty they choose, players will get more points if they choose harder difficulties versus players who play on easier difficulties.
Here's the breakdown on points distribution for this episode:
Legendary: 1 XF point for every 1500 points scored in firefight (solo or group)
Heroic: 1 XF point for every 3000 points scored in firefight (solo or group)
Normal: 1 XF point for every 6000 points scored in firefight (solo or group)
Easy: 1 XF point for every 10,000 points scored in firefight (solo or group)
So if someone scored 100,000 points for example, here's the math:
Legendary: (100,000/1,500) = 66.6 = 66 XF points
Heroic: (100,000/3,000) = 33.3 = 33 XF points
Normal: (100,000/6,000) = 16.6 = 16 XF points
Easy: (100,000/10,000) = 10 XF points
Protip: Decimals do not get rounded.
The best chance to get a lot of points comes at playing on legendary. The trade off is obtaining a high score gets harder as the difficulty ramps up.
Challenges
Challenges in XFFF act similarly to Xchievements (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9200) and challenges found in the game itself. The difference being you have a shorter time to complete them. Challenges are a way to reward players for completing certain requirements, and the rewards vary for each challenge completed. It can range from XF points, to a week of supporter and the firefighter medal!
Challenges vary in points with harder challenges worth more than say easier challenges.
Not including the winner challenges, 10 challenges are available for everyone totaling 240 XF points!
