Hey all,

Some of you have seen the map I'm working on (which I'm stoked for), but I'm having some difficulty getting the map set up for symmetrical and asymmetrical gametypes. The main difficulty of the whole thing is the fact that there are two objects that I want only to appear in symmetrical gameplay, as the map is laid out differently to accommodate that style of play. The long and short of it is that I set the two objects to "Symmetrical," and then enter into a round of slayer (FFA or Team), and the objects are not there. I've tried messing with this multiple times, and from what I can tell the "gametype specific" option does nothing to aid in this plight.

It appears as though the symmetry of Slayer has been switched, though why I do not know.

I have only tried to right this from the basic editing mode, and while I don't suspect it affects other gametypes, Reach is preventing me from simply loading another to test and see.

Has anyone else encountered this, or am I just not digging enough? Are the symmetry options completely flip-flopped, or do they just not work in Slayer? Am I losing my mind?

Is it already lost?

Gametype specific options don't work in basic editting. Trying loading up Slayer on your map in Forge, then setting down the objects. Open up the advanced options on the objects, set them to be gametype specific, then set the gametype labels to "SLAYER".

Try it out and let me know how it goes, I'm curious myself :P

Will that mean that they only spawn in slayer games, though? Because I want them there in all symmetrical gametypes, and I want them gone in all asymmetrical gametypes, not just slayer. This map is going to be one that supports everything...

EDIT: Oh, and for those who have played Wherewithal, I'm talking about the man cannon that takes you from the sword tower to the other side of the map, along with the sword. Those things are not supposed to be there in asymmetrical gameplay, as the entire map is turned sideways: the sword would give the attackers too much of an advantage, and the man cannon would make the map too small to work.

If what I said works, then you'd have to place objects like that for every gametype. Sorry, I should've mentioned that lol. Anyways, there's probably a more simplistic way to do it, but I haven't even touched symmetry options yet and this was the first way that came to mind.

There's no direct symmetrical or asymmetric option. Instead, use the labels on the objects you want to spawn in certain gametypes. So for One flag, One bomb, etc. go into each of those gametypes individually in forge to set up those options.

So they got rid of one of the more useful functions of the original forge? I can't set an object to only appear in symmetrical gametypes, and not in asymmetrical ones?

...that SUCKS.
