Description:

This is Dammy, slightly-modified recreation of the map Damnation from Halo: Combat Evolved. This map was a labor of love, as it's one of my favorites because I remember spending many nights during high school at LAN parties with friends in intense CTF matches that would sometimes take an hour. The map is a bit bigger than the original, both horizontally and vertically, partly to make up for Reach's faster movement and higher jumping, and partly to keep fall damage in play in key spots on the map. I spent way too much time falling off the original map on my old Xbox just to make sure I got the spawn points down... Spawn locations are similar to the original and weapon locations are identical, with a few swaps to bring the map up-to-date:

* Blue base Plasma Pistol replaced with Needle Rifle
* Red base Magnum replaced with Needle Rifle
* Plasma Rifles replaced with Plasma Repeaters
* Assault Rifles replaced with DMRs
* Ammo count in Shotguns lowered to balance the fact there are so many on the map

The weapon spawns are placed identically to those found in the original on the Capture the Flag layout. I added some hard kill zones above walls to keep people from jetpacking to places they wouldn't normally be able to, so some caution is required when using the jetpack, but early playtesting says there aren't many problems with that so long as you know where you should and shouldn't be going.

Wow.. This looks great! The remake is everything I remember from Halo 1 (strictly from memory because I'm not going to put the game in to check :P) Good job dude!

Holy hell man, this just made my day! Seriously, this brings back so many memories! This looks exactly like Damnation! It has that feel, even that look of the original. I noticed a couple very small modifications, but I would say this is the best remake of Damnation we will get! I truly am amazed at this near perfect remake! Excellent job man! I am downloading, and I cannot wait to play some customs in this!

Damn. No pun intended.

This is absolutely incredible, and a great example of what is possible in the brand new forge. Something like this would have been near impossible with Halo 3.

This is a damn great map. Okay, that time it WAS intended. DL, and, depending on how it plays, a feature nomination.:D

I played a custom game on this earlier! Definitely felt like Damnation! It has earned a place on my hard drive for many months (and years) to come!
