Well I have a friend that has confirmed that the gametype settings are indeed different in the retail settings. My only confirmation right now is that there is Lives and they are under Respawn Settings... they go up to 10. However there is still no teams enabled for Race and Rally. I'm working on finding out other info. So when I hear new things I'll let you guys know.
EDIT: Just got the kill scoring and stuff checked out by him. Apparently we do not have kill scoring back in KoTH, oddball, or anything else except slayer for that matter. Oh well... no more hot potato for sure now. Damn.
I'm working on finding out about Tiered loadouts in all gametypes now.

Bungie said in a weekly update that any of the greyed out settings are going to be enabled by a title update on the first day or two after launch. There were still a few bugs they had to work out, so they disabled them for the retail.

Sad face. Sigh. Well, I think everyone has heard me bitch and moan enough so I'll just stick to hoping for the best! Hopefully I can still come up with some wicked cool stuff! The lives do help though.

You mean I have been bitching about not having Team Infection this whole time on how amazing it would be? So it is confirmed that Team Juggernaut and Infection will be a part of the retail version? If so, I now feel much much better with customs in Reach. Maybe I will be proven wrong after all.

I don't remember them saying that. I remember them saying the game wasn't running at full speed yet but I don't remember them saying that they were going to un-gray stuff. But if they do THAT IS AWESOME! Team Infection ftw?

God I really don't want to get my hopes up again because Team Infection would spawn so many f'ing awesome games! I just have to try and remain mellow and chill right now. I can't get too excited because if it is going to remain grayed out, I will be so disappointed again...

OR, you could just wait until Tuesday and find out then. It is only three days away.

I don't know where I read it, but I found a similar statement in last week's update.
Some of you are playing Halo: Reach a little bit early. It happens. With millions of copies out of manufacturing quickly making their way into the massive global retail chain, it’s not terribly uncommon for a few discs to “accidentally” slip into a few lucky customers’ hands. Que sera.
If you count yourself among that lucky few, there are a handful of things you need to be aware of that will likely impact your pre-launch Halo: Reach experience. First, you’re playing in what we consider a test environment. Several key services are disabled, or in various states of fluctuating functionality, and core elements of the game, including big ticket items like matchmaking, credit acquisition, and the daily challenge system are all running at less than optimal levels.
If I find where I read about the grayness itself I'll tell you.

So if all this is true....
Technically Team Juggernaut could have Proximity traits.
Pray for VIP!

It's very, very, very unlikely. If the proximity traits were there, they most likely would be grayed out in that case too, a long with the team-juggernaut trait. Seeing as team juggernaut is a sub-setting, it won't have "hidden" settings inside of it.

If all the grey parts are really going to be in the game, then Halo Reach customs will be greatly improved. I have tons of Ideas and without team infection, half of them are going away.

Ugh, they never said anything recently about a title update, but I'm hoping.
