So, I was taking a look at my recent games and just happened to pop into my Custom Games.

Now, when you Forge a game you can usually find the game in your Custom Games list, labeled something like
"Forge on Foundry"
Like this one (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=932308358&player=Null%20Parameter) is.

But, today I found a new one, that I hadn't seen before.
"Sandbox on Foundry"
Here's an example (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=932309485&player=Null%20Parameter).

Does anybody have any ideas?

Does anybody have any ideas?

I think it might have to do with your permissions when you're in the game. If you're not the party leader and you can't go into forge mode, it may only label the game as ''sandbox'' not ''forge''?

There was a huge thread several months ago, and I believe Achronos even posted in it. Basically, they're the same thing, but Morphine has the best guess. Found it (http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=26231628&postRepeater1-p=2#26232390), but I remember the thread being larger.....?

Shouldn't this say "Infection" (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=98110731&player=CostlyAxis)?

Null has teh new mapz!!! Can I has Rekon? It might be when you edit settings (shields, movement, etc.) it is no longer the game variant of "Forge".

How ironic. Maybe Sandbox leaked on accident. After all it was made before the Heroic Maps.

maybe they had a trial period were they called forge sandbox instead

no if you notice sandbox is forge with more than one person.

There's more to it. There also has to be more than one team, which is why you probably haven't seen it. Most people forge on the same team. I'm sure there are other criteria for the bug as well (and yes, they said it is a bug).

Interesting. I'll try it tomorrow. Maybe I can pinpoint what actually causes it.

Its not a bug it is completely on purpose. Forging like someone said is all on one team and Sandbox is like how Bungie played around in Forge when they were first showing the Halo 3 Vidocs about Forge and Theater. Sandbox is like a slayer game in forge were only party leader can go into oracle mode and spawn cover for teammates etc...I think

Its not a bug it is completely on purpose. Nope, it is just a bug that has been there since Halo 3 released.

It happens under a certain set of conditions, and has to do with some weird combination of byte fields translating from the game to bungie.net.
