Official Matchmaking Playlists Announced At GamesCom

Here are the official Matchmaking playlists Bungie announced at GamesCom. Note that the playlists could be slightly changed before the release of the game.

-=Playlist


*The Arena
-Arena Slayer
-Arena Objective
-Arena Big Team
-Arena Free For All

*General
-Grab Bag
-Free For All
-Big Team
-Invasion
-Infection (!!!)
-Race (will most likely include the gametypes Race AND Rally)
-Customs (player-created maps and gametypes, probably won't be active right away cuz there will be no customs :-P)

*Firefight
-Easy
-Normal
-Heroic
-Legendary

*Double Credits Weekend


Btw, don't ask for "proof", because I don't have any. I was at GamesCom myself, so what I'm telling you is first-hand information. If you don't want to believe me, then that's just too bad, cuz I'll be proven right on September 14th. :)

Well what Bungie will probably do is wait a month after the release to give people time to make cool maps and gametypes, then put up the Customs playlist. If that's what you mean.

I'm pretty sure the customs playlist means searching for custom games, because i thought they were doing that...

That would be kind of lame, cuz then you could end up with 2-year-olds playing "Fat Kid". I think Bungie will select stuff that they think is good and add it to the playlist. However, I think we all know Bungie isn't very good at that. *cough*Run for Cover*cough*

You can always play customs with friends instead of randoms if it ends up being like that. I never get why people would want a custom games matchmaking list, it's not as fun as it sounds.

Regardless if it is a matchmaking customs thing, i highly doubt it will be something they add maps to right off the bat. They have bigger, better things to worry about. I would imagine they will wait till at least Christmas before doing a playlist like that.

+@Tim Not everyone is on a 1000+ member site and has tons of friends to play with. Custom games search would be good for people wanting to meet others that enjoy customs.

Yeah, but a Custom Games search IMO just wouldn't work. First off, how will it choose the party leader. and also, you could end up anywhere from an Fritszer MLG map with cool guys to some sloppy infection map made by some n00by 2-year-old, and you wouldn't have a choice. it would be EXTREMELY frustrating.

EDIT: In the video below, skip to 3:39. Chris Carny says, "If you create a Custom Game, you still have to find friends online that want to play." That's pretty solid proof that the Customs playlist isn't a Custom Games search, especially since it's coming from a lead multiplayer designer at Bungie.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Perhaps Doubles won't be available right away for some odd reason. Or maybe Bungie just trashed the idea for some odder reason.
