Welcome to part 1 of the XForgery Firefight Finale for ODST. This event will last from August 16th - August 22nd.

It's been two months since we last had an XFFF event. While the original plan was to put the event on hiatus until Reach came out, we decided to give Halo 3: ODST the proper sendoff it deserves. Besides, with Reach being less than a month away, this is a nice refresher on how to lay the smackdown on some covenant dirtbags.

What is XFFF?

XFFF (previously called XForgery Firefight Fridays) is an event that will test you or your team's endurance on how long you can survive the covenant while racking up as many points as possible. Unlike previous XFFF events, EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE OF WINNING SOMETHING!!! Even if you can't walk away with the highest score on the highest difficulty, you can still win some XF points for simply playing and submitting your best score.

How do I sign up for XFFF?

If you want to regist....oh wait I forgot. There is NO REGISTRATION this time around! To participate in XFFF, you only need to be a member of XForgery along with having a valid gamertag. If you have those two, you should be good to go.

If you've been visiting this site as a guest for a while and been thinking about becoming a member to participate in this event, now is a good time to register. :)

Protip: You can register here: http://www.xforgery.com/forum/register.php

So, what maps are we playing this week?

The two maps we will be playing is Lost Platoon and Rally Point.

http://www.bungie.net/images/Games/Halo3ODST/imagery/screenshots/medium/Halo3-ODST_Johnson-Firefight-1stP-01.jpg

Lost Platoon is a spacious open environment that's screaming for warthog abuse. There's also a couple snipers and a spartan laser on top of the main building. The laser will assist you in getting rid of those pesky wraiths and choppers.

Rally point is a mid size map with a defensive position near the ONI gates. Holding your ground is key to being successful here.

Whats this about winning XF points for just playing?

Glad you asked. If a player or their team can not get the highest score, they can still walk away with XF points if they submit their best performance. Depending on what difficulty they choose, players will get more points if they choose harder difficulties versus players who play on easier difficulties.

Here's the breakdown on points distribution:

Legendary: 1 XF point for every 2000 points scored in firefight (solo or group)
Heroic: 1 XF point for every 4000 points scored in firefight (solo or group)
Normal: 1 XF point for every 8000 points scored in firefight (solo or group)
Easy: 1 XF point for every 12,000 points scored in firefight (solo or group)

So if someone scored 100,000 points for example, here's the math:

Legendary: (100,000/2000) = 50 XF points
Heroic: (100,000/4000) = 25 XF points
Normal: (100,000/8000) = 12.5 = 12 XF points
Easy: (100,000/12000) = 8.33 = 8 XF points

Protip: Decimals do not get rounded.

The best chance to get a lot of points comes at playing on legendary. The trade off is obtaining a high score gets harder as the difficulty ramps up.

Challenges

Challenges are new to XFFF but act similar to Xchievements (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9200). The difference being you have a shorter time to complete them. The rewards vary from XF points to a week of supporter and the firefighter medal!

Challenges for solo players are in blue, team challenges are in orange, challenges that can be obtained either solo or a team are red. Difficult challenges are worth 10 XF points, easy challenges are worth 5.

Protip: Solo challenges can only be done alone.

Lost Platoon challenges

Speed Bump: Get 2 vehicular manslaughters in a team game on heroic or higher.
Reward: 10 XF points

Wraith Killer: Kill 5 wraiths in a team game on any difficulty.
Reward: 5 XF points

Grunt Punter: Kill 100 grunts on heroic or higher.
Reward: 10 XF points

Citation: Destroy 10 vehicles on any difficulty.
Reward: 5 XF points

Lost Platoon winner: Get the highest submitted score on Lost Platoon during this XFFF event (Legendary only).
Reward: 1 week supporter, Firefighter medal.

Rally Point challenges

Aim for the Face: Get 100 combined headshot medals on heroic or harder.
Reward: 10 XF points

Fly swatter: Kill 50 drones on any difficulty.
Reward: 5 XF points

Silent but deadly: Get 50 silenced pistol kills on heroic or higher
Reward: 10 XF points.

The LOLLERHAMMER: Get a dreamcrusher on any difficulty.
Reward: 5 XF points

Rally Point winner: Get the highest submitted score on Rally Point during this XFFF event (Legendary only).
Reward: 1 week supporter, Firefighter medal.

How do I submit my score?

Chances are you've already seen it on the front page, but in the event that you ignore the front page, you can post all your submissions in the submission thread (http://www.xforgery.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10374). <-- (Click here)

Be sure to read the rules within the submission thread so you know how to properly post your results.

How long will this event last?

It starts right now and ends on August 22nd @ 11:59 PM CST. Submissions will be due 24 hours after the conclusion of the event.

Good luck out there, you'll need it. :onfire:

- .Timothy, now I don't feel guilty anymore.

The Spartan Laser isn't actually on top of the building, it's on the inside, you should know this .Tim. ;P

Wow, definitely an improvement from previous XFFF games. Everything seems better. I like how you don't need to play on Legendary to win something, and how you can pick which map to play on. Very well thought out. Hopefully more people participate.
I take it the idea to award XF points for reaching a certain amount of Firefight points was my suggestion :)

Too bad I can't play, I got RRoD :(

Just thought of this while I was typing this: You should include a sort of 'Free Agent' system. Have a list of people who don't have any one to play with in the OP. Then people in that list (or anyone else) can simply invite those Free Agents. The Free Agent list won't change from week to week unless that person requests to be taken off.

Seems like a good idea to me.

Sounds good.

If anyone wants to get a team together for sometime this week, I'd be up for it.

No, actually, it wasn't. :p
We had that idea for a very long time, and it was supposed to be put in a long time ago, but somebody slacked off.

...wait a second. So if someone gets 1 million points on easy, it beats out someone who had 900,000 on Legendary for high score?

Nah, the red challenge under each map (which is pretty much the traditional challenge) is for legendary only... at least I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

I think just like on bnet you shouldn't be ableto use choppers on lost platoon

I don't think it should matter, as long as you don't use the "cheap spot"

Red challenges are only for Legendary (at least 99% of the time). They are based on past XFFF events.

We needed a simple math formula to calculate points, not do some crazy formula in which you divided, added, subtraced, rounded the solution to the nearest decimal and add the solution by 7 to get the final result (sorry Jpec).

That's what a program with an "input score section" is useful for Tim... It will do all the work for you.
